Auschwitz

Auschwitz is the most famous concentrationcamp , it is the symbol of the Jewish extermination , the unjust in the war , the evil in nazism ... .

Before the war , Auschwitz was a Polish army barracks , used by Polish troops to fight against the Germans , but soon it shifted from hands ... . The Germans took it under control in 1940 .
It was used as a gathering point of political prisoners , jews , gypsies or other so called inferior populations .
The city and it's camp was named Auschwitz by the Germans , although it was named Oswiecim by the Polish .

The camp was divided in 3 parts ; Auschwitz I , Auschwitz-Birkenau II , Auschwitz-Monowitz III .
It also had over 40 subcamps .
But then it went into history as the murder camp in 1942 as Hitler had the European jews rounded up in all major European cities (Amsterdam , Antwerp , Brussels etc) and transported them to Auschwitz .
They were transported in cattle-wagons to the camp , no place to sit , even no toilet (might have been a bucket in the corner) .
At arrival in Auschwitz I , they were divided in groups , men to right , women to left , women with children far left .
Women with children were taken away to be executed with the children .
Then the campdoctors determined who were fit enough to work , or who wasn't .
Those who weren't , awaited the same faith as the Jewish mothers ... .

The nazi's in the camps had different ways to eliminate the poor people .
Many were directly being send to their deaths from the cattlewagons .
Many were shot and burned in the ovens , after being investigated for gold teeth .
Their left overs were gather by fellow camp mates , pulvirized and thrown in the river .
The people who arrived in Auschwitz-Birkenau II , were lead to the so called shower rooms .
These were the well known gaschambers .
The gas Zyklon B was used wich was promoted in a short movie in 1938 to be the best insect killer , now this so called bug-gas was used on people .

Another name connected to Auschwitz is Doctor Mengele , the campdoctor , he was head of medical staff in the camp and he conducted experiments on the children , some even too cruel to mention ... .
Arbeit didn't make free , it was work until you were exhausted , if you were exhausted then you were expendable , if you were expendable then you were dead ... .

Millions of people found death here , all nationalities , all enemies of nazism .
When the Russians approached the camp , SS-guards tried to destroy as much as possible , documents , barraks but most important , the gaschambers ... . The liberators didn't believe there eyes when they saw the prisoners who were left behind by the nazis , skinny , pale , like they were on another planet as they didn't realise this could be possible on this one ... .
The still fit workers were deported to the depths of the Reich wich was crumbling down .
Hitler's plan didn't came true , to exterminate all the Jews , but without Allied interference , he might have made it in the end ... . Another black page in the history books ... .
