Welcome to Big Sky Country in Melstone, Montana; located 90 miles northeast of Billings, Montana (see map). Circle Rock Ranch is the retirement residence of David & Hester Jacobs. Melstone is a small rural ranching town with a population of 126 within the city limits. It has 3 churches and a school (K-12), a general store , a bar/cafe, and a gas station. The fire department is a volunteer organization that not only fights structural fires in town but during our hot, dry summers puts out the grass and brush fires hopefully before they become large wild fires. The saying "It takes a town to raise a child" is exemplified by the Melstone Community. Everyone is involved in school activities whether they have a child in the school or not. We have a small community pool supported by donations and volunteers in the summer. Hunting is great. We have Upland Birds, Turkey, Pheasant, Mule Deer, White Tail Deer, Elk, Pronghorn Antelope and Prairie Dogs(not the endangered ones) if you want to have some fun. Big sky Country is God's Country. |

We have arrived in Montana after living in Hawaii and Virginia. David and I keep busy with slowly building our ranch facilities-this year we will add chickens. We have a large vegetable garden, 2 goats to eat weeds, 3 dogs and many cats. We are both active in the volunteer fire department and senior citizens group (even though we aren't old enough to qualify ). Our son Chris and his family (wife Alison, son Odin) live in Dunedin New Zealand. They are both attending the local university (Chris a degree in English literature, Alison in Early Childhood Development) and they have an internet business. Daughter Rebecca is in Billings Montana at Montana State University getting a degree in Elementary Education and managing a local Sun Glasses Store at the Mall. |
