Emergency Care

When you suspect something is wrong with your Cavy, the best option is for it to be taken to the Vet immediately. Small things can mount into a fatal turn in a matter of hours if treatment isn't saught promptly. Guinea Pigs are incredibly good at hiding their ailments, so by the time you recognise something it may be fairly advanced already.

It is also advised that preventative measures are taken with your animals. Not only should they be properly fed, watered and nurished, but taking extra care to notice behaviours that are not common and listening for changes in breathing etc can mean the difference in losing your cavy to a respiratory infection and saving her with a quick trip to the Vet.

Vet's should be saught out before you need one so that in the case of an emergency you have one you know and trust on hand. This is essential and can be a huge factor in whether your cavy lives or not.
