BLINK-182
The second AND third of my concerts attended with Mick. They were AWESOME, I must say. Especially since Mick and I MET THE BAND before the second show!!!!!!!!!!! How'd we pull that off? I'll tell you... You see, Mick's dad had bought us tickets to see them down in Cincinatti on the 9th of July. The seating chat to the venue (Riverbend) was poorly drawn and we thought we had super
shitty seats, so we were attempting to get closer seats... Flash to about two weeks before the concert... Two Saturdays, actually, but anyway... I'm at Mick's house, we're chillin', and I walk into his room, which has the radio on. Some sound-byte/clip thingy that is a medley of Blink songs plays between a song, and I ran to the phone, not even knowing before I heard it at that moment that WXEG (the station that was playing) was having a contest for Blink tickets. I started dialing on the phone in Mick's kitchen... When I got a busy signal, I hung up and I couldn't find the redail button on Mick's phone, so I maually dialed again... And again... And again... And I finally heard a ring. And what caller was I? I was the 10th Caller.... And do you know what that meant? That meant I got TWO TICKETS TO SEE BLINK-182!!!!!!!!!! Unknown to me at the time, they were for the Columbus show the night after the Cincinatti show. I thought I had won those better tickets that Mick and I were trying to score... But no matter... I was also entered into a drawing for BACKSTAGE PASSES to the Colubumbus show! I had to wake up early that Monday, and listen for my name during the morning show... And I did wake up early. They were drawing the first name at 7:15 am, and I woke up at 6:30. Waiting and waiting... And they finally drew the first name... It was not me... But they did not call in within the amount of itme they were supposed to... Same witht he next name they drew.... And the next one.... And the next one.... THEY DREW TEN NAMES BEFORE MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I GOT THE PASSES!!!!!! HELLS YEAH!!!!!!!!!!
Flash to the day of the Cincy show, and Bucher, Jeff, Mick and me all get in Bucher's vehicle and we all go down to the show... We are stopped outside the venue and are asked to fill out a survey. I won $5 from it, so it's all good... I got a shirt form the show inside
and I was really psyched when I was hearing a lot of Dead Kennedys over the PA before Alkaline Trio came out onto the stage. I thought they were purty good, as did Mick. Next was New FOund Glory, and I must say, they were very good.... But they got that damn cover of "The Never Ending Story Theme" stuck in my head so badly... Good show. Mark hoppus came out and played bass for one of the songs, too, which was purty awesome. And then... The 21st Century Fox theme came blasting out of the speakers... And from behind the curtain.... A giant sign was lit........ The GIANT FLAMING "FUCK!" Oh, it was beautiful..... Simply beautiful... The concert was AWESOME, they opened with "The Rock Show" and played quite a bit of the new album. They DIDN'T play "Wendy Clear" or "Mutt," which was somewhat dissappointing, 'cause I was really hoping that they would play those. But I had a great time, nonetheless. The next night, we would be able to meet them... One thing that was a bit of a let down was the fact that I saw no boobies at the show, so while Mick, Bucher, Jeff and I were out looking for Mick's dad in the parking lot, I danced, in the hope I would any boobs at all... but alas, I did not. I did write a song about it, though. We stopped at the Waffle House on the way back to Dayton, and we saw one of the BEST/WORST MULLETS WE'D EVER SEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, the next show comes around, and Mick and I used some colored hairspray on our hair (Orange) and it all came out by the end of the show. We went to the show, and waited WHERE WE WERE SUPPSOED TO BE to meet the MCA rep... Got there with half an hour to spare... Stood around 'till 15 minutes AFTER the time we were supposed to be
there by. But I eventually found Steve, and he led the whole pack of people (which wasn't very big, which was cool) to where we were all gonna meet Mark, Tom, and Travis.... I must say that they are all REALLY nice guys. The coolest of the three bands I've met. No pictures were able to be taken, though. But I got my copy of Enema Of The State signed by Tom DeLonge and I got a shirt signed by Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus (Travis was too quick fer me) for Tom (the other guitarist in my band). Mick and I also both got a promo flat that all three of 'em signed for us. Too cool. I was finally able to tell Travis Landon Barker that I thought he was the Lord and Savior of all things percussion... He looked like he appreciated that and said thanks. I told
Tom DeLonge that Mick and I saw 'em the night before and they were awesome. He replied, "Well, you're in for the same show tonight, buds." Skip to the show, I kinda wandered the place a bit while Alkaline Trio was playing... and I made my first excursion into the "pit," which was out on the lawn, which was where the tickets were. Got a faceful of shoulder within five seconds, though!!! OUCHIES! Sat out until Blink came on.... Then the place erupted... And Tom was right. It was the same show... But that just gave me more time to get into the pit and look for Mick, when he and I got separated (little did I know that he was on the VERY far right of the venue, sitting out most of it, because he fell down when he was in the pit and some fat kid landed right on his head.). I had a great time... I picked up an ARA (Anti-Racist Action) benefit cd, which is loaded with good stuff. And I just had a kick ass time... YOu would not believe how the "pit" exploded with people when "Family Reunion" and "Merry Christmas, You Bastard" came on.... Shit, man... Awesome stuff... Again, Mick and I stopped at the Waffle House again. Greatness was served. And a great show was beheld. Two nights in a row.... I can't wait 'till the next tour... 'Cause I will be THERE.
