GREEN DAY
MY FIRST CONCERT OF THE REAL NEW MILLENIUM!!!! Okay, my friend Mick got two tickets for Christmas and asked me if I'd accompany him to the concert. Well, always ready to go to a concert, I accepted. Okay, we make the 40 minute trek to "The Toilet Bowl," which is what I usually not-so-affectionately call Hara Arena, and his parents dropped us off...
On our WAY TO THE LINE TO GET IN, we BOTH slipped on some ice and fell on our asses! We then waited for about half an hour to get into the doors. With our pants wet in the FREEZING COLD... We made it, though. We got onto the floor and we sat down. I conversed with some of the other fans while Mick kept telling me to shut up. (He's not the most sociable person in the world) Then the Get Up Kids took the stage. They were VERY good, in my own opinion. The keyboardist had a lot of energy... Which was weird... But anyway, they put on a GREAT show and Mick and I stood around after their set while they set up for Green Day. When they took the stage... HOLY SHIT, the place ERUPTED!!!!! We were pushed forth, towards the stage, and back and forth and back and forth.... We were separated not long after Green Day started. There was a mosh pit and I was right in the middle. Primarily, Iwas in the not-really-violent section of the Pit, but when I wandered into the violent parts... OH, MAN!!!! I got the CRAP kicked out of me! Made my way through all that... MAde my way to the THIRD ROW OF PEOPLE!!!!!! When they were calling up people to come play their intruments, I was jumping up and down... Waving my arms... Yelling at the top of my lungs... But I wasn't picked... A little idiot bastard son named Scott got to be the guitarist for the impromptu band dubbed "The Dayton Satans" by Billy Joe Armstrong. I met the drummer and the bassist during and after the show (respectively). But no matter... It was a KICK ASS SHOW!!! My first mosh pit, too. But it was Mick's first CONCERT ever. And a damn good one to start with, in my opinion. Billy Joe Armstrong is another one of those excellent frontmen... Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool are probably two of the better musicians on their instruments that I've heard... And it was a real treat to see them live. Plus, I GOT A PICK FROM MIKE DIRNT!!!!!!! WHOO HOOO!!!! :)
Do you even NEED to ask where this takes you? I know you're gonna click anyway to find out, so why explain.... Hmmmm....
