| (Michelle) both of whom, like me, had never seen Van Halen live. So the Knights picked me up and we would've been all peachy-keen... But the crotch of my jeans ripped apart right when I sat down in the car. Well, after that setback we were ready to go. First, because I was their VH connection, they treated me to dinner at T.G.I. Fridays... And I got a glimpse of the inside of Gary Knight's house... The amount of records and cds he has is incredible... Anyway, we got this certain card that Michelle uses at Friday's and into the restaurant we walked... And I in a really old Van Halen shirt that, on the back, in really big letters says "VAN HALEN KICKS ASS!!" Plus, the shirt is about two sizes too small on me. I got a lot of stares. Anyway, we had some good food before the show, and we drove down, caught some MEAN traffic, and we finally got to my youngest older brother's house. Then it was to Riverbend we went! We got there after about an hour of driving, and we located my oldest brother. (the one with tha connection, G...) He said I needed to get a new shirt and stuff, so we got that... We were not able ot get passes like my brother said, but it was a GREAT show, anyway. We were in the pavillion part of the venue, and so close, you can see the expressions on their faces. I was genuinely amazed by Eddie's live playing ability. It was some of the greatest playing I'd ever seen. Alex Van Halen was constantly pounding out the beat at a furious pace and Michael Anthony downed damn near a WHOLE BOTTLE of Jack Daniels before singing the lead vocals one of the songs. And Gary Cherone... He was awesome. I have no idea why a lot of fans didn't like him. He sounded like Sammy, and had the energy of Dave on the stage. All-in-all, it was one damn good show!!!!! But the next one I saw was better. |
