| As part of the State Facilities Modernization Program (often referred to as the "Albany Plan" for Capital Region projects) the Department of Conservation (DEC) will be moving from 50 Wolf Road in Colonie to the heart of downtown Albany. This move will relocate 1,800 DEC employees to a new building overlooking the Hudson River and Corning Preserve, reflecting the agency's mission of environmental protection. Construction of this 13-story, 470,768 gross square foot building and a connected 500 space parking garage is underway. Foundation work is finished and erection of steel for the superstructure is complete. The "topping-off" ceremonies were held May 23, 2000. The building is fully occupied as of June 2001. |
