Episode Forty Six
Grant Poolhouse
"Here you go," Annie said, unlocking the doors for the teenagers, who all had arms full of boxes and bags. "Two bedrooms upstairs, a first floor office type room, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, nice big livingroom with fireplace. As you can see, livingroom has sliding doors that open up onto the pool, though in another few weeks it'll be drained and covered for the winter..."
"Annie? You don't need to play Realtor," Jamie said as he came in holding one side of a big box while Matt held the other.
Annie smiled, a little sheepishly. "Sorry."
"It's okay," Summer said, smiling.
"Where do we put this stuff?" Walker asked as he followed Matt and Jamie in.
"Just stack it here in the livingroom, next to my stuff," Jamie instructed, guiding Matt and the box over to a corner. "We need to get it all in, then we'll figure out what goes where."
"Especially since my computer stuff, and my DVDs, and CDs, and Tapes, are all mixed up with my clothes and teddy bears," Summer added, shrugging.
"All right, as long as I can put this down," Walker said.
"You? We had to be carrying 200 hundred pounds in there!" Matt said.
"Am I too late to help?" Richard said as he stuck his head in.
"Not at all, Jamie's truck is still full, along with my car," Matt said.
"Oh," Richard said. "Shoot, I just remembered I have to..."
"Don't you dare make up an excuse, Richie," Annie said. "Or I will kick your ass."
The room was quiet as a minute as everyone looked between the frail looking Annie and the muscular Richard, finding the idea of her kicking his ass a little hard to believe.
"She will and she has," Richard said. "Of course, she did cheat."
"Just shut up and help the guys while us girls do a tour of the house," Annie ordered, gesturing for the girls to follow her upstairs.
"I like that idea," Summer said, hurrying after her.
"Let's just get this over with," Jamie said.
Upstairs
"So," Annie asked as she showed the girls around the 2nd floor. "Father told me you're keeping the Baby."
Summer bit her lip and nodded. "Yeah, we are," she said. "Neither of us wants to give it up."
"That's a brave move," Annie said. "It's not easy for anyone to become a parent, but both of you are so young."
"We know, but..." Summer began. "We'll be okay. We have each other, we have a place to live, and we'll have money coming in. It's a better situation than must teen parents."
"Yes, you do," Annie said, looking at the younger girl. "And if you two need help, I'm here for you."
"I think half the town is here for them," Maria said, laughing.
Annie laughed. "Good point. But I'm here for them and right next door," she said. "So's Richard, and Father, and Aaron..."
"Aaron is jackass who isn't coming in this house," Summer said, her eyes narrowing.
"Did I miss something?" Annie asked. "I thought you were all past that?"
"We were past it when it was a trick to get Miranda to accept Aaron and me," Maria said.
"When Aaron and Diego decided they actually liked each other and instead of being honest made out?" Summer added. "We got pissed again."
"My brother's a little jackass," Annie agreed. She shook her head, then smiled half heartedly. "So, Summer, what do you think of the rooms? Which do you want?"
"They're great," Summer said. "And I have no idea which one I want. I shouldn't claim one without talking to Jamie."
"Of course if you both wanted the same one you could always share," Nicole said with a grin. "It's not like he can get you doubly pregnant."
"Okay, not the comment to make in front of his Aunt," Maria said, trying not to laugh.
"It's true!" Nicole argued.
All 4 of the women started laughing. Jamie stuck his head into the room they were in and smiled at the sight. "You guys having fun up here while we work downstairs?"
"Hell yeah!" Maria said.
"We finished with the unloading and Pilar just drove up. So I figured I'd hide upstairs until I knew if she was going to hit me over the head," Jamie replied, walking over and wrapping his arms around Summer's waist.
Summer leaned back against Jamie. "I'll protect you," she said, craning her head to look up at him.
Jamie smiled and kissed he forehead. "Thank you."
"Come on, let's leave the lovebirds to pick bedrooms," Nicole said.
"Or bedroom," Maria added, snickering.
"Stop trying to embarrass them," Annie instructed as she pulled Maria and Nicole out of the room.
"Did I miss something?" Jamie asked.
"Nicole suggested we should share a room, since you can't get me double pregnant," Summer replied. She tried not to, but started laughing when she saw how red Jamie's face became.
"And she said that in front of my Aunt?" Jamie asked.
"Uh-huh," Summer replied. "And I don't entirely think it's a bad idea," she added.
"You don't?"
Summer shook her head. "Like Nicole pointed out, I can't get doubly pregnant. And I liked being in your arms. I wouldn't mind spending all night like that." She shrugged. "Besides, one of the rooms needs to be a nursery, and the baby shouldn't be all the way down on the first floor with us up here, and one of us downstairs one up doesn't make much sense..."
"So... you wanna play married?" Jamie asked.
"Pretty much, yeah."
"Okay, let's pick our room."
Summer turned and kissed him. "I like the other room for us, this one for our baby. Especially since the other one has it's own attached bathroom."
"Okay," Jamie agreed.
"And we can make the downstairs office into a studio for you to paint in," Summer added.
"That sounds great," Jamie said, smiling. "I love you."
"Love you more."
"Impossible," Jamie replied grinning. "Come on, let's go see what food Pilar brought us."
Downstairs
"I swear, I love Jamie as much as if he was one of mine, but he needs to be knocked upside the head for this!" Pilar said as she and Maria put groceries away.
"They both know it was stupid," Annie said. "But at least their circumstances are completely different form most teenage parents. They have plenty of people willing to help, you bringing them groceries to fill the fridge, Father let them move into here and is offering to pay all the medical bills and such. They have friends whoa re standing by them... so far the only person not being supportive is Summers mother." Annie made a face as she said that. "I want to wring that woman's neck."
"No offense, but I've met Mrs. Brady, and she could probably kick your ass," Maria said.
"Okay, first you have to agree with someone on an embarrassing comment in front of my Aunt, now you have to insult my aunt, too?" Jamie said as he and Summer walked into the kitchen. "Very nice, Maria."
"It's not like what she said isn't true," Annie said.
"Still!"
"Hi, Mrs. Montoya," Summer said shyly, biting her lip.
Pilar was ready to start scolding both teenagers, but when she saw how frightened Summer looked she instantly changed her mind. "Hello, Summer," she said, smiling gently. "I won't lie and claim to approve, but I'm here if you need anything."
"Thank you, Pilar," Jamie said letting go of Summer's hand to walk over and kiss Pilar's cheek.
"Not to change the topic," Summer said sheepishly, "But what kind of food did you bring?"
Everyone laughed and Pilar smiled. "All sorts. Every food group, including the not so healthy for you group. Although considering the ages of the majority of this crowd, I assume pizza will be ordered as soon as the adults leave."
"Yeah, most likely," Jamie admitted.
"Well, I think I'll go and let you get to your junk food," Pilar said.
"Richard and I'll go too," Annie said. "If you need anything, just call," she added to Jamie and Summer before leaving the kitchen to go find Richard.
Jamie turned to Summer and raised an eyebrow. "What you want on the pizza?" he asked.
"Pineapple, sausage, Canadian bacon, and Peppers," Summer replied. "But no Anchovies or Olives or I'll puke. They make me puke anyway, the definitely will now."
Jamie laughed. "Got it, no anchovies or olives," he said.
"I'll go see about getting some of our stuff moved up to our room," Summer said, kissing him, then hurrying out to the livingroom.
"Your room?" Maria questioned. "As in shared?"
"Yes, 'Ria, we decided to share a room. The other bedroom will be the baby's nursery."
Maria jumped forward and hugged Jamie. "It's still stupid, but you seem really happy so I'm happy," she said. Then she pulled back and looked at him sternly. "I get to be Auntie Maria, right?"
"Of course."
"Good."
Jamie laughed and grabbed the phone, hopping up on the counter to dial.
Later That Night - Brady Home
After eating pizza and muttering as he helped move Jamie and Summer's stuff into their room, Matt headed home. But no sooner did he walk in the door than he was faced with his very angry mother. "Mom."
"Where were you?" Janice asked.
"Helping Summer get moved, since you kicked her out," Matt replied, his mouth forming a thin line.
"After what she did..."
"God, mom! She made a mistake!" Matt said. "And guess what? She's not alone. Jamie's going to be there for her, the Grants are going to make sure they have enough money, why can't you just for a second consider being happy that your going to have a grandchild? Instead of wishing this one was dead like the first?"
"Don't use that tone of voice with me, Matthew!"
"I'm right, and you know it. She's happy, mom. Or she would be if she didn't think you hated her!" Matt said.
