Track 1 Two types of letters
Vowels. There are 5 single vowels in English: a, e, i, o, and u. Sometimes, the letter y also acts as a vowel. English words are built on vowels. Every word must have at least one vowel. Some vowels can be words by themselves, such as the words "A" or "I".
Vowels have three different sounds: short vowel, long vowel, or r-controlled vowel sounds.
Short Vowel Sounds. The five most important sounds are the short vowel sounds. If you know these sounds you will be able to spell a lot of words.
The vowels are A, E, I, O and U. They are named by their long sounds. Their short sounds are:
A as in ant E as in egg I as in ink O as in old U as in umbrella
A single vowel between two consonants is usually short.
For example: C-A-N (C-A-N): The vowel "A" is short because it is between the consonants C and N.
Consonants. Most consonants (15 of them) have just one sound.
B says B as in bag. Repeat after me: B –
bag. F says F

Usually, when two vowels are written together, the first
vowel is long and the second vowel is silent. Examples: MEAT, RAIN,

The East Beast sits upon his beach.
Upon the west beach sits the West Beast.
Each beach beast thinks he’s the best beast.
