Culture: Do's and Don'ts |

1. Martagon lilies are one of the first lilies to show up in the spring. Because of this they are often frozen, thus it is a good idea to protect the martagons from late freezes in the spring. |
|
|
|
|
|
2. Martagons should be planted in a location where they will receive filtered sunlight or at the most only an hour or two of sunshine daily. |
|
|
|
|
|
3. The bulbs should be planted with the top of the bulb four inches below the top of the soil. |

4. Martagons take 1 to 2 years to adjust to their new location. The first year they may: |
|
|
|
|
|
a. Grow only one or two feet tall and have only a few blooms, or
b. They may start to grow normally and abruptly turn brown and die back, or
c. They may not come out of the ground the first year, |
