IOWA Trip Report

Hawkeye Point
Elevation: 1,670 feet
Hiking distance: 200 yards
Completion date: 8/13/01

On my way home to Washington DC, coming from Harney Peak in South Dakota, I stayed in Worthington, Minnesota for the evening.  The next morning I made my way down route 59, then got on route 60 and made a left on to 130th street.  A road sign notes the turn for Hawkeye Point when going southbound on route 60.  I parked my car at the side of the road, and the sight of the farm structures looked familiar to what I had seen on the web.  You need to look for the silo (photographed below) on the right of the road.  I walked over there and found the sign behind the silo.  Highpoint Number 2 was complete!  I hit Hoosier Hill in Indiana the next day.
