FAQ Q: Which satellite should I watch? A: You should watch the satellite Astra at 19 degree east. It will give you almost everything you can want related to Spanish TV. For this, you will only need a satellite dish with one head - one LNB (LNB means Low Noise Block) ). This is the simple solution. If you would want to see the Hotbird satellite too, at 13 degree east, you will need two heads (two LNBs) on the dish. Q: If Astra gives me almost everything, why should I bother with the additional expense with Hotbird? A: The additional expense is small, and you will (among other things) be able to see channel 24 Horas from Spain, which sends news 24 hours a day (similar to CNN). Q: If I go for a dish with two heads, do I also need two cables from the dish to the satellite receiver? A: No. The signals from the two heads are combined in a switch at the dish, and the combined signals are transferred to the satellite receiver in a single cable. Q: I have an old dish that I used to watch the Nordic channels, but I do not want to pay for that any longer. Can I use my old dish and turn it to the new satellites? A: No, most likely you cannot. It is not impossible if you have a sufficiently large dish and the head (LNB) is a new, digital version. But that will probably not be the case. Q: How big dish do I need? A: To see Astra, you need at least 65 cm. To also see Hotbird, you will need 80 cm. (These values are a bit on the safe side, but will ensure that you also have good reception in bad weather). |
