2003 Color Tour in Vermont
This was our first chance since Kathy's surgery to get out and really enjoy the beauty of Vermont.  I took just the right day off - the weather was fantastic and the foliage color was at peak in many parts of the state.

The Boyden Family Farm in Cambridge was a perfect scene.
This is Vermont at its finest.
On our way to lunch we went through the hamlet of North Calais.  Only dirt roads lead to it.  North Calais is northwest of East Calais by about 10 miles.  But you have to leave Rt. 14 to get to it.
Downtown, North Calais.
The homes here are so quaint.
From North Calais, it was on to Marshfield where we stopped at Rainbow Sweets to have lunch.
Bill Tecosky had some delicious food ready for us.
Next, we were off to Peacham Pond.  I went out in the packboat first while Kathy napped.  After that I was able to coax her into the boat for a nice tour of the pond and the surrounding colorful hills.
Kathy was feeling so good, she was able to hike the 1/4 mile to the top of one of our favorite Vermont mountains - Owl's Head.  From there you can see most of Groton State Park.
The sun set rapidly to the west. Kettle Pond is below with Camel's Hump mountain in the far distance.  What a way to end the day wouldn't you say?
