U.L. BARNES III, 58 years, of Huntington passed away
Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001 at his residence. Funeral
services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the
Young Chapel AME Church, by Rev. Samuel W. Chambers.
Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park
Cemetary, Huntington. He was born February 24,
1943, in Huntington, W.Va., the youngest son of
the late U.L. II and Bennie Mae Williams Barnes.
He worked for many years as an area manager for
CSX Railroad at the Huntington Locomotive Shop.
He graduated from Huntington High School, where
he excelled in football, and he attended Kentucky
State University in Frankfort, KY. He was also
preceded in death by a younger sister, Cynthia
Barnes, and a brother, Miles M. Barnes Sr. He
leaves to mourn two brothers and sisters-in-law,
Walter L. and Martha Jean Barnes of Louisville, Ky.,
and Lucious L. and Yvonne Barnes Sr. of Walden, N.Y.;
one sister, Marguerite H. McClurkin of Central Islip,
N.Y.; two uncles, Earnest Barnes of Los Angeles,
Calif., and David P. Barnes Sr. of Huntington; 10
neices and nephews, Cindy, Miles M. Jr. and Benny S.,
all of Charleston, W.Va., Lycia, Seela, and Lucious
Jr., all of Walden, N.Y., and Robert, Shjanita,
Chevonne, and Walter, all of Central Islip, N.Y.,
11 great-nieces and nephews, Pierre, TaShanna,
Ebony, Benny Jr., Adam and Amanda, all of Charleston,
W.Va., and Erinesse, Marquese, William, Destinee and
Treivon, all of Central Islip, N.Y.; and a special
friend, Michael Morgan of New York. A host of other
family and friends also survive. Friends may call
from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, at the Ferrell
Funeral Home Chapel, Huntington.
