JOHN EDWARD "THE DUDE" SIMONTON, 65, formerly of
Huntington, W.Va., passed away on January 7, 2009,
in Cleveland, Ohio, after a brief illness. John
was born on June 28, 1943, in Pensacola, Fla., a
son of the late Daniel J. and Helen W. Simonton
of Huntington. A graduate of Huntington High School
and Marshall University, he had worked as a loco-
motive salesman for General Electric. As well as
his parents, John was preceded in death by his
wife, Libby Simonton. He is survived by his
daughter, Linda Simonton of Cleveland; daughter
Rebecca Dye and family of North Carolina; his
sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Charles
Campbell of Huntington; and his nephews Norman
and Mike Effingham and their families. A private
family memorial service will be conducted at a
later date. Zeis McGreevey Funeral Home, Lakewood,
Ohio, is assisting the family.
