Virgil Martin Stewart, Jr., 59, of Kenova passed away
Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at his mother’s residence.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday
at the Reger Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Mark
Finley and the Rev. Kevin Lantz. Burial will follow
in Dock’s Creek Cemetery, Kenova, W.Va. He was born
Oct. 9, 1943, in Baltimore, Md., a son of Isabelle
Chandler Stewart of Huntington and the late Virgil M.
Stewart Sr. He was a retired electrician from the CSX
Railroad. He was a member of the IBEW Local Union
#549 of Huntington; the Shriners; the O.E.S. Chapter
8 of Huntington, where he was past worthy patron,
whose members will conduct services at 7 p.m. Monday
at the funeral home; and the Huntington Lodge #53 AF
& AM, whose members will conduct masonic graveside
rites. In addition to his father, he was preceded in
death by a grandson, Joshua Martin Smith. Additional
survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law,
Jennifer Lynn Stewart Via and Tom Via Jr. and McKenzie
Rose Stewart, all of Huntington; one grandson, Levi
Scott Smith of Huntington; one sister, Carol Ann
Monnig of Huntington; three special nieces, Lisa Dawn
Sifford, Terri Ann Heck and Mia Lorraine Simmons,
all of Huntington; three special friends, Mike Benton
of Westmoreland, David Cottingham of Missouri and
Willis Carter of Huntington; and his ex-wife, Nancy
Stewart of Huntington, who helped with his care.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Via Jr., Christopher
Heck, Mike Benton, Trenton Heck, Lewis Carter,
Jennifer Lynn Via and Terry Lee Chandler. Friends may
call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Reger Funeral Home.
