What is Art and how it has  influenced our society?
Art is emotion and the ability to represent emotion.  When an artist creates a painting, it is not to make a picture, but to create a feeling or mood.  The purpose and beauty of art is to stir up some kind of emotion that the artist feels and hopefully that the viewer will feel.  Art is found all around, including nature and the city we live in as well.  Art does not have to be beautiful either; it can be unsightly since it is intended to express feelings.  Even human beings can be described as a form of art.  Art can be seen in so many different ways that what is beautiful to you may be ugly to me.

Everyone has different impressions of art.  To be an artist is to live and feel and then to express...to see things in everyday life that you usually do not see.  With each work of art created is gained  a greater understanding of themselves, which will affect their minds forever.  These feelings represent moments of the purest freedom of the spirit.  Once an artist creates an image, which truly represents those emotional states of mind, the work becomes precious to him.

Everything is a form of art because of the individual’s impression of nature around them.  Everyone has a different impression of what is beautiful and what is ugly.  This explains why society is made up of so many different types of personalities and cultures.  This explains the differences of styles between countries and religions.  This is the reason why people do not wear the same exact clothes and listen to the same music.  Where you were born affects the way you view art.  The clothes we wear in the United States may appear ugly to people who were born and raised in different parts of the world.  They have a totally different impression of our clothing.  Art has not only influenced the clothes we wear and the music we listen to, but the buildings we build.

Art follows purpose and form.  The Egyptian pyramids and the skyscrapers of New York are both forms of art.  The Egyptian pyramids served as a tomb to the great Pharaohs.  New York skyscrapers are used by businesses to hold several offices and employees.  The skyscrapers are tall and thin to save space in a crowded city.  The houses we live in can also be considered art.  They have affected society in that we sometimes look at a person’s house and estimate their income level.  The region you live in can determine how your house is built.  Houses in the southern region usually have porches and big windows because of the nice weather.  Northern houses have steep roofs to keep snow off of it.  Houses in the west have flat roofs because of their weather.

Art has influenced every aspect of society in every way imaginable.  It defines what helps make up human culture.  Art has influenced everyone’s life in some way or another.  Society becomes nature around them.  Society would not be able to function without art and the influences it has on everybody’s life.
