Organizing at HHT
This is a blog dedicated to the union organizing activity at HHT.
Don't get caught in the "danger zone"!
I had a special meeting today and it was really a waste of my time. Yes, that's right ladies and gentleman. a good old meeting with TT. *chuckle* Some of you may not get that one, but read on. Evidently, there were a couple complaints about me 3 months ago. Why wasn't anything said before my "leave" as there was plenty of time? Anyways, it had to do with the King County account. I found this very hard to believe considering I have been on this account since day one. I have a copy of my disciplinary report here:

Garbage In, Garbage Out

What is not in the report is that the complaints allegedly stated I didn't identify myself on a call. Puhleeze! I have been saying the same thing to identify myself on a call since Jan. of 2006. I called her out on this one and said "what's the next one"?

Supposedly, health advisors are not to engage with "operations" type discussions. So, what do you want me to do lie? HHT has been fudging the figures for years, so it doesn't suprise me that they don't want us to tell the truth. Now, you cannot tell a person from King County that you might not get the same advisor as last year or even the one that you enrolled with earlier. I asked her if she has ever seen the Metro KC website under the FAQ for Healthy Incentives.

Healthy Incentive FAQS

Glazed look on her face. She is so far removed from the advising process that she needs to get her head out of her ass and learn our jobs. So, now you are supposed to direct the client to a lead worker. Let someone else put a spin on the truth. Really. News to me. When did the rules change? Oh yeah, that's right. They change all the time.

How about not engaging in conversations that are not related to risk reduction. So what? Now I can't ask how your dog is doing? Ding, ding, ding. Alarm! Danger zone! What a bunch of asshats. What bean counter came up with this one? Oh yeah, that's right...the one that is in charge of the division. The one that DOESN'T have a health background. Look at me everyone, I'm a brainless twit and now I make decisions in the health advising division. She is an accountant, which has about 6 months experience in our division. Come on. This is our glorious leader? Where is the leadership in this company?

The biggest kick in the teeth was "standards". Bottom line. We don't have any. Oh wait! Now we do:

New guidelines

This is what we as health advisors are being held to. Holy shit. News to me! When did this shit come out? Look's like a few weeks ago. The question is: how many people know about this? Not many. So why in the hell would you have the balls or in this case the utters (I meant tits) to discipline me for something I have no knowledge about. Seriously, you are saying I made a 3 min. call with someone? Here are the standards from last Oct:

Old guidelines

Well, what do you expect when the rules change? I flat-out told her that we need consistency with the standards and leadership. I don't think she understood anything I was saying. The best way to put it (thanks to another advisor I was speaking with on this): it's like telling my daughter, "why didn't you go to bed at 9?" and she responds, "I would have if you told me my bedtime was at 9". Ponder that. I did. HHT didn't. Who's the jackass? Hee haw! TT is.

After the 20 min meeting and when I returned to my desk, she gave me the "new standards" and I pulled out the "old standards". She was puzzled as a baby deer trying to take it's first steps. Then she said, "don't follow these anymore". No shit. New hoop to jump through. So, now I guess we're going to have a meeting on this in two weeks with all the advisors. I guess you like to do things the hard way. Shit or get off the pot. Well, it took you long enough to open the curtains on this one. Meanwhile, there is another person getting a special talk to tommorrow. Same shit, different day.

For you that said: "Things are going to change". Keep wishing. For you that said: "Let's wait, it can't get worse". Good luck on that one. Play the lotto. Your chances are better. The fact remains: THIS COMPANY WILL SCREW YOU OVER. Answer me this: why are over 1/3 of the advisors actively seeking other jobs? Better pay, better benefits, better working conditions, etc? You get a Scooby Snack if you answered yes to that one.

Am I upset? You better believe it. I have more important things to think about that this trash. Why did this happen? I doubt the validity of the complaints. It's a personal attack because 1) I'm part of the organizing committee 2) the organizing committee has contacted every union in the nation in regards to HHT (that's no joke, the list is long) 3) KC Metro has been contacted about HHT's crookedness 4) HHT management is flat-out incompetent and wants to single out people.

This "disiplinary action" is less about unprofessionalism and is more about telling the truth about the program to King County participants. I was pulled off the hunt group for KC, but when I asked about the 85 participants that I have been working with, they said it was ok. Really?!? I can't answer incoming calls, but it's perfectly fine to advise KC clients? If it was so much of a "problem", then I would have been pulled off it compeltely. You want to put a gag order on me in regards to King County. It's the behind the scenes details that HHT is afraid KC employees will find out like: HHT is one of the most corrupt organizations in the nation.

Unprofessional? Me? Point the finger at yourselves.

NLRA violation? You bet your ass...
