Tips for Internet Safety!!
While their try to make NeoPets as safe and friendly as possible, there are still some things you need to bear in mind. If you are in any doubt, then talk things over with your Mom, Dad, or a responsible adult who will know what to do. You don't have to enter any personal information about yourself to sign up with NeoPets. You have the option of entering more information if you want, but don't give out information about yourself, like your last name, your phone number, where you live, or where you go to school, without asking your parents first. If somebody says something to you, sends you something, or you see something that makes you uncomfortable, don't look around or explore. Get your parents instead - they will know what to do. If this happens on the NeoPets site, please e-mail abuse@neopets.com and we will take the necessary action. Meeting up with people you meet on-line is not always such a great idea, but if you feel you want to, there are 4 rules you should stick to: 1. Meet only people you feel you know well and have known for a long time. 2. Meet in a public place such as a mall. 3. Go with a parent or 18+ sibling, even if you are an adult yourself! 4. Make sure the other party is not going alone either, but with a parent or other adult. Don't open up e-mails, files, or Web pages that you get from people you don't really know or trust. Viruses are commonly spread through opening up e-mail attachments. If you are not sure, it is best to delete the mail. Don't ever give out your password to anyone on the NeoPets site. They will NEVER e-mail you or try NeoMessaging you to get your password. If anyone does try to get you to reveal your password, please e-mail abuse@neopets.com. Always follow your family's rules for the Internet - they're there to make sure you have fun and stay safe on-line. NeoPets is completely FREE, but not all sites are. Don't ever do anything that could cost your family money unless your parents are there to help you do it. The NeoPets Rules for Internet Safety are adapted from the brochure Child Safety on the Information Highway by Lawrence J. Magid. Printed copies are available free by calling (800)843-5678. |
