John Hamer, first President of Hickory Hills, cuts the ribbon across #1 tee on June 10, 1973.
In the far background is the original clubhouse, which was built using lumber sawed from the trees removed to create #3 fairway. Boards from the walls of the old clubhouse were re-milled into woodwork for the new clubhouse.

Hickory Hills Golf Club, Inc. is a semi-private, member-owned, non-profit corporation whose philosophy is to provide healthful, family-oriented recreation for both its membership and the general golfing public at reasonable prices.

To this end, Hickory Hills was officially opened on June 10, 1973. Its first Board of Directors were: John Hamer (President); Robert Lahrman; Ralph Peters; Donald Norman; Jim Reid; Clair Owens; Louis Sommers; Clyde Perry and Victor Wessel.

The course was designed by Harold England and constructed through the volunteer labor of its charter membership. Hickory Hills continues this tradition of volunteerism by holding 'work days' to implement needed upkeep of, and improvements to, its facilities.

As a result of this tradition of membership volunteerism, Hickory Hills is more than a mere 'club' or corporation. It is an extended family that works together to achieve likeminded goals, which build upon and enhance community values so indicative of our Hoosier Heartland.

Our major events often conclude with pitch-in picnics, where our members and guests enjoy a true family experience of companionship, conversation and plain, old-fashioned fun. And remember, 'guest' means more to us than 'fees player.' You, your family and friends will be treated to genuine, down-home Hoosier Hospitality found only in the small-town atmosphere of South Central Indiana.

Hickory Hills invites you and your family to join ours this golfing season, whether as official members or welcome guests.
