Samson was born in Texas on April 14, 1995. His mom, Hosanna, noticed that Samson
loved to visit with children whenever we took walks at the park. He especially
liked children about his size. She thought Samson might be a good therapy dog. Samson's
mom writes: "The first therapy visit was memorable. When we arrived at the
hospital, Samson met a golden retriever, a large yellow lab Buddy, a rottweiler Gypsy, and
a jack russell terrier Rosie. Samson was very taken back by the size of the other
dogs, and the only dog smaller than he was, charged over to show him that SHE was the
boss. It was so funny to see the look on Samson's face. For the first time, he was
put in his place. When we arrived home that day, his usual "attitude" was
gone. I have never seen him so submissive as the day after his first hospital
therapy dog visit." Samson has a wonderful time with all of his therapy dog pals and handler friends. He
is small enough to be placed on the side of a hospital bed next to a fragile
child. She can put a treat in the palm of a small child, and he will gently
take it and eat it. They enjoy visiting the children in the hospital. What a wonderful opportunity it is
to comfort the souls of patients, staff and ourselves, too.
