I was watching the first couple of episodes of the Kid Buu saga once and they told the story of four Kai's. these were different Kai's than you see before so I was getting pretty confused. So, we decided to look it up and we found a great site where they explained it all. Putting their info and the stuff we could remember together, resulted in this.
Okay, these are the Kai's we all know and love, tha Namek's who also brought the dragonballs to Earth.
Original Kai – Originally the better side of Piccolo who split his sides to rid himself of his bad side to become pure, this resulted in the kai we know from the earlier part of dDBZ (the good side) and the once pure evil Piccolo (the bad side)
Dende – Dende is a small Namek boy who volunteered to become Earths new god after the original Kai died, he also created a new set of Dragonballs and has healing powers.
You probably know these from when Goku died and stayed with King Kaio (North Kaio) to train, he was trained to participate in a tournament between the four Kaio’s, North, East, South and West. There kaio’s rule over a whole section of a galaxy.
North Kaio – The one we all know as King kaio, he lives at the end of Snakeway and helps our Z-gang to train whenever they end up dead.
East Kaio – A short, little woman, known for her speed, she also challenged Goku to a race once.
South Kaio – The biggest of the Kaio’s, known for his peaceful nature although he has the weakest fighters.
West Kaio – King Kaio’s rival, they are always fighting over who has the better fighters.
Dai Kaio’s are rulers of an entire galaxy and are the boss of all the Kaio’s who rule parts of that.
Dai Kaio of DBZ – The only one we see in DBZ, the guy with the ghetto blaster who is actually a lot weaker than he likes people top think, Goku could actually defeat him with ease.
The Kaioshin’s control four galaxy’s, and naturally all the Kaio’s and Dai kaio’s who rule the parts of those galaxy’s. They are also divided into four but I don’t know if this means DBZ has 16 galaxy’s…
North Kaioshin – Not much is known about this Kaioshin, only that he's short, a little chubby and that likes fishing ^-^;;
East Kaioshin – The Kaioshin we all know from the world tournament, later on he fuses together with his servant, Kibito and turns into kibito-kai
South Kaioshin – A big guy that eats a lot with a reddish Mohawk. He was the first kaioshin to be absorbed by Buu
West Kaioshin – A beautifull woman, the same kind of Mohawk as east Kaioshin only a lot bigger, she was the first Kaioshin to die at Buu’s hands
Even a higher kevel than the Kaioshin’s, they tell basically everybody what to do but I am not sure if they are the highest beings in charge, at least they control all the guys above.
Dai Kaioshin – Very cheerful, when Buu absorbed him he was infected by his purity and became the happy, fat Buu we all know and love.
Ruu Dai Kaioshin – The guy locked in the sword Gohan was supposed to pull out of the stone, also a bog pervert because he upgraded Gohan’s power only if he could touch a woman’s breast ^-^;;;
