We are pleased to offer three awards to honour the time and effort webmasters have put into their websites.
I have specific terms and conditions before I will award you one of these, however. You must read these before applying for an award.
General term : while I know many people will come straight to this part of my site looking for awards, I would prefer it if you have read my site - as it is rather rude not to have done so, and have signed my guestbook. Neither of these two conditions are necessary, but they are preferred.
Best Graeco-Roman Religion Site Award
1. You can enter either a site, or a page/s of a site for this award. If you only enter a page of a site, however, I expect to see substantive content, of more than two screens, which isn't just images.
2. Your site can deal with any aspect of Graeco-Roman religion - this includes public worship, not just mystery religions or foreign religions - though these too are welcome to enter.
3. Your site must have easy navigation - I need to be able to find my way about easily, and not have to go searching for your navigation.
4. No sites using cursor trails will win this award. Sorry, but they are intolerable.
5. No sites linking to, or containing, hatred, bigotry, illegal content, or pornographic content. I will determine what is pornographic - obviously I will not bar your site if it contains images of naked statues, as the ancients did make statues to life!
6. Your site must have historical information on it - this award is not for sites dealing in historical fiction, historical reconstruction which does not reference actual historical events, or worship sites for the ancient religions. I expect to see largely correct and researched historical information - this needs not be footnoted, but I do not want to see glaring mistakes that an hour's research into the subject would have prevented.
7. Your site must be in English. I cannot read any other language, so I'm sorry. Sites with an English translation (which is readable) are acceptable.
8. Your site must be complete, or have the majority of its contents online.
9. Your site should not require me to download plugins in order for it to work. I can use flash, things requiring QuickTime, and I can play MIDI files.
10. Speaking of which, your site will not win if I cannot turn off any music you may have playing.
Good luck!
Best Mystery Religion Website Award
1. Your site, or page from a site, must specifically deal with mystery religions, not public worship, not cults foreign in time or place to the Roman Empire.
2. Your site must have historical information on it.
3. If you submit just one page of a site, it must have substantial information on it, and not just be links, or pictures.
4. No sites containing cursor trails will win this award.
5. Your site should not require me to download any plugins - I have everything that comes with windows, and QuickTime player, I should need no more.
6. Your site can be from a neo-pagan viewpoint, so long as it contains factual, historically correct information as well.
7. Your site should have all or the majority of its content online.
8. I should be able to turn off any music you have playing.
9. Your site should be in English, or have an English translation.
10. No sites containing, or linking to, hateful, bigoted, illegal or pornographic items. As before, I determine what is pornographic. I do not mind statues as the ancients sculpted them, nor do I mind quotations from, or references to, the sometimes erotic nature of Roman religion.
Good luck!
Mystes Award
This award is specifically for neo-pagan, metaphysical, or otherwise spiritual communities.
The term "mystes" refers to one who is an initiate.
Basically, you are applicable for this award if your site shows your worship, influence by, or dependence on the Graeco-Roman gods for your spiritual path.
The same provisos about MIDI music, comet trails, language and navigation apply. I have to be able to turn off music, see no comet trails, it must be in English and I must be able to find my way around your site easily.
Aside from that, this is more of a subjective award.
So, you've read the terms and conditions?
Then apply using this form.
I cannot guarantee when I will get back to you, if you break any of the more obvious conditions (eg. comet trails) then you will not receive a reply saying you have not won, but if you do not win due to some other consideration, I will try to tell you why.
If you do win, you are required to link your award back to this site (www.oocities.org/hierosmysterion) and I will check!
