1947 Pennsylvania Railroad Calendar Original -- "Working
Partners"
(RI)
This is an original 1947 PRR
wall calendar featuring a reproduction of a Grif Teller painting titled "Working
Partners" and measuring approx. 29" x 28 5/8" and in excellent
overall condition scoring an 9+ on a scale of 1 - 10. This calendar has
survived nearly 61 years thus far! The scene is of the River Road area of Marysville,
Pennsylvania. This was Grif Teller's first attempt at including a Diesel locomotive in a
calendar scene. It has a complete and well preserved date pad, and an attached original
broadside. The artwork print area is in really excellent condition with no perceptible
blemishes. The tuscan red border is virtually intact with only a barely perceptible
horizontal crease above the date pad for the width of the calendar. The gold border has
only a professionally repaired minor tear near the upper left corner and a couple of minor
creases along the margins. Certain areas of the back of the calendar (e.g. the horizontal
crease above the date pad) have been reinforced with white artist tape for added
stability. All of these imperfections are considered minor and will be barely perceptible,
especially after professional framing and hanging over your mantle or on a wall in your
den or train room. This particular calendar is in very high demand and hard to find
in this condition! NOTE: Glare in photo image of calendar caused by protective cellophane covering.
