1952 Pennsylvania Railroad Calendar Original -- "The
Horseshoe Curve"
(RI)
This is an original 1952 PRR
wall calendar featuring a reproduction of a Grif Teller painting titled "The
Horseshoe Curve" and measuring approx. 29" x 28 5/8" and in very
good overall condition scoring a 9 on a scale of 1 - 10. This calendar has
survived 55+ years thus far and is still in great condition! The scene is a bird's eye
view of the famous Horseshoe Curve, just west of Altoona, PA. Even after a century and a
half of service, this engineering marvel still carries the Pennsylvania's main line
navigating the Allegheny Mountains linking Philadelphia to Pittsburgh and the Ohio Valley.
This particular calendar has a complete, original and well preserved calendar pad, but a
reproduction greeting letter, which is not attached. The artwork print area is in
excellent condition with only some very minor vertical creases in the center of the
artwork image. The tuscan red border has a long horizontal crease to the left of the
date pad. The gold border has some edge creasing in the margins and a professionally
repaired small tear in the lower right corner. All of the imperfections are considered
minor and will be barely perceptible, especially after professional framing and hanging
over your mantle or on a wall in your den or train room. This particular calendar is in
high demand and very hard to find in better condition! NOTE: Glare in photo image of calendar caused by protective cellophane covering.
