1953 Pennsylvania Railroad Calendar Original -- "Crossroads
of Commerce"
(RI)
This is an original 1953 PRR
wall calendar featuring a reproduction of a Grif Teller painting titled "Crossraods
of Commerce" and measuring approx. 29" x 28 5/8" and in Very Good
overall condition scoring a 8 on a scale of 1 - 10. This calendar has survived
50+ years thus far and is still in great condition! The scene shows a busy junction in
West Virginia's Panhandl, about 30 miles west of Pittsburgh, PA on the railroad's St.
Louis main line. The view is along the Ohio River looking west from Weirton, West
Virginia. This particular calendar has a complete and well preserved date pad, and the
broadside is attached and also well preserved. The artwork print area is in nearly perfect
condition with no noticeably perceptible imperfections. The tuscan red border is also
virtually intact with no noticeably perceptible imperfections. The gold border has some
minor edge damage and a couple of expertly repaired small tears. All of the imperfections
are considered minor and will be barely perceptible, especially after professional framing
and hanging over your mantle or on a wall in your den or train room. This particular
calendar is in high demand and hard to find in this condition! NOTE: Glare in photo image of calendar caused by protective cellophane covering.
