1955 Pennsylvania Railroad Calendar Original -- "Mass
Transportation"
(RI)
This is an original 1955 PRR
wall calendar featuring a reproduction of a Grif Teller painting titled "Mass
Transportation" and measuring approx. 29" x 28 5/8" and in excellent
overall condition scoring a 9+ on a scale of 1 - 10. This calendar has survived
53+ years thus far and is still in great condition! The scene shows a lineup of passenger
trains headed by GG1s parked near Municipal Stadium (later renamed John F. Kennedy Stadium
in the 1960s) in South Philadelphia. The stadium has since been demolished and replaced by
Veterans Stadium, which will soon get the wrecking ball too. This particular calendar has
a complete and well preserved calendar pad, and a broadside is attached as well. The
artwork print area is in nearly perfect condition with no noticeably perceptible
imperfections. The tuscan red border is virtually intact with no noticeably
perceptible imperfections. The gold border has some minor edge creasing in the right
margin. All of the imperfections are considered minor and will be barely perceptible,
especially after professional framing and hanging over your mantle or on a wall in your
den or train room. This particular calendar is in extremely high demand and hard to
find in this condition! NOTE: Glare in photo image of calendar caused by protective cellophane covering.
