Jeffrey started his American career in March, 1968, and by July had earned his American championship, as well as. the Golden Leash award from the Irish Setter Club of America for 1968. In April, 1969 he began his Canadian championship career and went Best in Show at the first show. He finished his Canadian title in four shows with two Bests in Show. According to 1975 records, Jeffrey was the Canadian all-time Best in Show winner, all breeds, and defeated more dogs than any other dog in the history of the Canadian Kennel Club to achieve his record of 65 all breed Bests in Show, two Specialties, 195 Group Firsts and a total of 235 Group placings; he was Best of Breed 246 times. Jeffrey was shown 263 times under 106 different Canadian and American judges. He was winner of the Irish Setter Club of Canada award in 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, and 1973. He was won the Ralston Purina award for six consecutive years and was Top Winning Irish Setter for 1969 through 1973, No. 2 Sporting dog in 1969 and 1970, and Number One Sporting Dog for 1971, 1972 and 1973. He was retired in June, 1974 (Brearley, 1975).
