Althorp: the Oval and the Island

The trail from the house takes you down to the oval, where you see Diana's monument on the island.

At the beginning of the oval, the trail goes to the left to the temple.

Flowers are laid on both sides of the path, as well as on the temple itself. Close-ups of the temple are on the next page.

After walking around the back and starting down the opposite side, you will see this small boat which is used to row to the island. A little girl a few feet away from me wanted to take a picture of the boat, but her mother told her not to waste the film.

You're nearly at the end of the oval when you have reached this point. There was a very nice gentleman stationed there who assured me that recent reports in the press which said that people had tried to get over the walls or swim to the island were greatly exaggerated.
