Great Brington: the Church and the Village

Entrance to St. Mary the Virgin Church, Great Brington, in which twenty generations of the Spencer family have been buried, along with their kinsmen Lawrence and Robert Washington, who were ancestors of the first US president, George Washington.

This rear view of the church shows a portion of the graveyard.

As we walked out of town we passed old homes with pretty gardens and stone fences.

We returned to Althorp by walking along this grassy lane. The building in the distance is St. Mary the Virgin Church, which can be seen for quite some distance across the countryside.

This sign marks the beginning or end of the trail, depending on whether you are going to or from St. Mary's Church.

A view of the house and stables from the road.

We waited briefly across from this gate for the shuttle bus to take us back to the stables. While we were waiting, one of the men who helped co-ordinate the shuttle bus operation took our picture, which is below.
