“Would you hurry up?” Duncan MacLeod grumbled to his friend from across the table.
“Don’t rush me.” Methos said glancing up. “Chess is like making love to a woman. You don’t rush into a move, you take it nice and slow and easy.
Methos took another couple of minutes staring at the board and then moved his queen up four spaces
while MacLeod glared at him
         “Check”
MacLeod glared even harder at Methos and moved his knight to block the queen. Just as his hand left the           piece they felt the presence of another immortal. They glanced at each other and then at the door.
“It’s your barge.” Methos said indicating the door with a nod of his head
“Gee thanks.” MacLeod said reaching for his katana. He walked up and through the hatch to the deck       above and looked around. He didn’t see anybody at first then a voice said from behind him
“Duncan MacLeod of the clan MacLeod. I thought you’d be older.”He spun around and found a girl who   looked no more than sixteen standing behind him.
         “And you are...”
“My name is Charmaine and I need your help.”
         “We’ve never met have we?”
          “No.”
“Then why do you want my help?”
“A mutual friend said that you were the man to go to if I was ever in trouble.”
“Who is this mutual friend?” MacLeod asked still wary of a trap.
         “Richie Ryan.”
“Richie.” MacLeod whispered. He looked at this girl trying to decide if she was telling the truth.
“Can we go inside?” She asked looking around her like she was expecting someone.
         “What’s the rush?”
“Look my trouble could be showing up any minute I would rather be inside.”
“All right.” He motioned to the door. They walked in and shut the door behind them.
Up on the street two men was watching as MacLeod and Charmaine walked into his barge. One                 pulled out a cell phone and dialed a number.
         “Hello sir it’s Jeff.”
“Yes sir we found her but she just went inside a barge across from Notre Dame.”
“No sir I don’t know who it belongs to but I will find out for you sir.”
“Yes sir I will.” the man ended the call and turned to his partner.
“We need to find out whose barge that is.”
They turned and got into the car and pulled away.
Inside the barge Methos had been listening for the sounds of swords but had only heard the mutter of       voices. Soon MacLeod was opening the door and leading someone in.
“She’s a friend of Richie’s and she needs some help.”
MacLeod said sounding like he did not quite believe the story yet. He walked the rest of the way in and              the girl followed.
Methos looked up and gasped. The one person he never thought he’s see again stood in front of him for the      first time in nearly 1600 years.
“Charmaine.” he said as she entered.
Charmaine looked up at the sound of her name.
“Methos.” she looked down at him recognition dawning on her face. “Long time no see.”
       “How are you?”
“Except for somebody out for my head, just fine.” she replied carefully.
“I take you two know each other.” MacLeod said indicating Charmaine should take a seat.
“Oh yes quite well.” Methos said.

France 415 C.E.

Methos was on his way to see his old friend Darius. Darius had sent word that he had a new immortal           that needed sword training. Methos had heard that Darius had taken the head of a holy man outside of Paris       five years ago and ever since then had taught peace from the holy man’s church. He couldn’t quite believe it.     Darius had been almost as bad as Methos was when he rode with Kronos and the other horsemen he           couldn’t imagine Darius just turning off the evil overnight. It had taken Methos almost a hundred years to          convince himself that he needed to stop  killing and raping  so that he would be able to live with himself for        however many more centuries he had to live.
He stopped his horse in front of Paris’ only church, hell it didn’t seem that long ago that Paris didn’t have a   church.A figure in monk’s robes emerged from the doorway.
“Methos.“ Darius said warmly extending his hand.
“Darius.” Methos gripped his friend’s hand.
“So it’s true you’ve given up on the old ways.”
“Yes my old friend it is true. I am a man of peace and God now.”
“Well if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes.”
“Come in Methos I have some tea prepared.”
      “Tea?”
“Yes tea.” Darius said leading the way into the church. It was a small room with a second room to the side. Darius led him into the side room where a bed and a table with four chairs were set up. Methos took a seat and looked around.
“So where’s this man you want me to train?”
Darius continued pouring water into two cups and did not answer right away.
