I was just wasting my time at work and came across your Odyssey diary. What a great
series of articles. I've bookmarked it in order to go back and read the rest.
 
It appears we have had a similar path. I'm a CPA/Controller here in Oregon and I'll swear
that I learned mathematics and statistics in order to calculate the Yankees batting averages
in 1961. Okay, I'm a little older than your are!!! I could keep score at age 8. My high 
school baseball career consisted of riding the bench and keeping score. I couldn't field
but we had the best stats around. My first computer was purchased for doing tax returns
and playing Strat.
 
Being out here in a professional baseball wasteland (okay, we just got back the old San Diego
AAA team from Las Vegas), I would have loved to work for a professional team. I envy you.
What are you doing in Texas now???
 
I'm looking forward to the CSBA season. Hopefully my pitchers will be able to hold you off
again. Maybe with a reliever I'll be able to hold off Ray. Do you think he'll let Pedro start 
80 games?

Statistics, even at an early age. Must be a gene for that in our chemical makeups or something.
