Monarch's Own

Your Real Name: Sorry... use Monarch's Own or MO
Email Address: monarchs_own@hotmail.com
Real Age: 18
Current Location: Florida
Religion: Wicca
Occupation: "Would you like fries with that?" ... Actually, I currently make sandwiches for Wendy's. Surprisingly, it's a pretty hard job - you have to be *fast* and each sandwich should take only seven seconds to make (or "build", as it's called). And it's a fun job. I work night shift, which means once the dining room closes we turn on music (usually Trapt or something like it) and joke back and forth.
Alias: The name "Monarch's Own" is a term from the novels by Mercedes Lackey, specifically her Valdemar ones. Monarch's Own is a position of great status and trust - this person is the only person that the Monarch can trust, without question, to be absolutely truthful in all matters. The Monarch's Own (also called King's Own or Queen's Own) is the highest ranking Herald, and is second only to the Monarch.

Current Personas: none at the moment, but I have a handful in various stages of being complete

Physical/Emotional Description: I stand five feet, three inches tall and weigh approximately 110 pounds. Sometimes I weigh a little more, sometimes I weigh less - my weight is tricky like that. My hair is odd too - it used to be blond, but over the years it's darkened to a dark blond/brown color, and it falls to about the middle of my back. My eyes are hazel, and too many people have told me that "your eyes are wide!" More than a little annoying, since I was teased over it, and have no control over them. I have various birth scars, since I was three months premature and all of the doctors said I'd never live (and be blind, deaf, dumb, etc in the process). Needless to say, I won't be going back to them! Oddly enough, while I don't have them anywhere else, I have a handful of freckles on my shoulders.

Emotionally, it's extremely hard to define myself. I'm great at working with other people, and do good in customer service jobs. I'm cheerful, smile tons, and am overall helpful - until a customer starts to gripe, and then I get kind of depressed. I tend to be good at listening and working through problems, as long as they aren't mine. I absolutely adore babies, but I do not want any of my own so I'll borrow a baby to cuddle for awhile. The good thing about "renting a baby" is that you can return it after a short period of time! My mood swings happen basically twice a month - near the full moon I can get very depressed, but near the new moon I get happy and energetic. Of course, I have some minor mood swings between those two major ones. I can be a real bitch during certain times of the month, but I've gotten good at waiting before responding.

I'm good at diplomatic stuff, or at least better at it than most people. Of course, being in Pern fandom for five years and serving on a Board for most of those has a bit to do about it. I don't mind giving out bad news as well as good, and handle such communications professionally. I do not like seeing Clubs where the Board is power hungry, and starts out the roleplay owning all the golds, the Weyrleader, and all the other major rankers. My motto is that a Board member is also a club member, and had better earn a rank the same as everybody else. Being on the Board does not automatically guarantee that you'll get a gold! In fact, I have never owned a goldrider, although I have had two Lord Weyrholders/Weyrleaders.

Brief History: Born in Richmond, Virginia but moved to about five different places before settling down in Savannah, Georgia for the first seven-eight years of my life. Then it was down to Florida for another handful of years. We moved up to Kansas for a year, but after my family hated it we returned to Florida, where we have been since. Most of our relatives are in Florida, in various spots around the state. My parents are divorced and have been since I was maybe six - I remember that I didn't even know they were divorced for over a year! Talk about hiding things from your kids...

I've done pretty good in classes throughout the years, getting bad grades only when I procrastinated and didn't do the homework. Otherwise, I was an A/B student, and graduated from high school with cum laude honors. I still have my graduation stuff (the robe, the stuff you wear on the robe, about 25+ invitations left...) and will probably have it for many years yet.

I am a complete and total bookworm. My book collection is pushing 500, and would be a couple hundred more if I hadn't of donated all of my books before we moved to Kansas. I own two bookshelves (no room for more!) and all of the shelves have been "double stacked" - two (or more) rows of books are on each shelf. When I'm not at work or sleeping, I'm either in a book or on the computer. Whenever I meet people who like reading, I generally give them Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" to read, and have bought at least ten copies over the past year and a half.

What other Pern clubs are you in? None
What is your favorite Pern book? I love all of them; personal favorite would have to be Dragons of Pern
What is your favorite non-Pern book or author? Lots - Mercedes Lackey (thus the use-name), Tamora Pierce, Terry Goodkind, Anne Rice, JK Rowling, Stephen King, Dean Koontz...
What special talents or skills do you have? I'm great with animals, especially dogs. I'm self-taught at HTML, and helped teach the class in high school - I don't like fancy, flashy websites that detracts from presenting information. I'm also pretty good at writing, and if I wasn't just as skilled at procrastination I'd have published a novel by now. Of course, it doesn't help that the last time I finished writing one that I got depressed and destroyed it. I am a very fast reader - Harry Potter 5 took me three hours to complete.
