Rank Requirements

All requirements are encouraged to be met, and exceeded. If failed to be met, a warning will ensue, then your rank will be yanked. Continuing to ignore the requirements may result in permanent loss of ranking personas. You only need to follow the rules the highest matching rank one of your personas have. For example, if you have a bronzerider who is also the Lord WeyrHolder, you need only post the Lord WeyrHolder's requirements, and not both.

Board members, due to their duties running the club, are excused from any and all rank requirements. However, they should try to meet them, and should not in any way stop posting completely.

--Weyrleader/Weyrwoman/Hallmasters/Lord aand Lady Holder/junior weyrwomen - 3 posts a month; All goldriders must post about their gold's flight, the clutch, and the hatching. Color and egg distribution must be approved by the Board.

--Wingleaders/Masters/WeyrlingMaster (inccluding Seconds)/Headwomen/Hallseconds/Master of Apprentices - 2 posts a month

--Wingseconds(thirds)/bronzeriders/Stewarrds/Weyrcrafters (WeyrHarper,etc) - 1 post a month

--Candidates - candidates are not 'true' ranking characters, but you must post for the character if you ever wish to Impress. The more you post, the better your chances are of getting your first color choice. Candidates should post both about being Searched and Standing in the Hatching, whether or not they Impress.

What Happens if I Miss Requirements

If you miss requirements, the Board (namely the Rank Requirements Tracker) will hunt you down, tie you up, and leave you out during Thread. It ain't pretty. After Threadfall is over, your body (or what metal remains) will be brought back into the Weyr for dragons to use in practice.

Actually, if you fail to meet requirements of any rank, a letter will be sent around the first of the month. You'll be told which persona, the total requirements of that position, and how many posts were missed. Then, you will be offered the chance to make up for the missed posts. You will have two weeks (fourteen days) to send in the missing posts to the club. In the post itself, or in a private email to the Board, state that the post is a catch-up from the previous month, so credit is given and is not counted on the current month reqs.

If you happen to go on LOA anytime during this two week period, the timer will be stopped and restarted once you return. If the LOA is long enough, you may be excused from the current month requirements (but not the previous month). Failure to meet requirements is frowned upon, especially failure during the additional two weeks grace period. The Board may elect to pull a rank after continued failure to meet requirements, or excessive LOAs. Some examples are:

  • Bob writes for the Weyrwoman. During May, he wrote two posts, but requirements deem that he should be able to write three a month. A third post is sent out on the fifth of June, with the notation that it's the final post for May. He's congratulated, and feeling a burst of inspiration, Bob writes three more posts to meet June's requirements. Well done, Bob!

  • Sarah writes for a bronzerider. In August, nothing is received from her. Sarah receives a warning, and the chance to make up the single post. She sends in a post on the second of the month, then immediately goes on LOA until October. Since she was LOA for more than three weeks in September, she is excused from requirements that month. A day or so after she comes back, she again goes on LOA until December. Requirements are excused once more, although a nearly-two month straight LOA is just a little excessive. She doesn't post in December, and doesn't make up the post in January. No posts are sent in for January either, and Sarah once again goes on LOA near the end of January.

The Board convenes to decide on an appropriate action, and agrees to pull the rank, since nothing has been seen from the bronzerider since September and it's now Febuary. It is agreed that Sarah will lose the rank, but if she starts to post and be active, she can regain the rank two months later in April.
