Season finale Sept 23/24th 2001 Just missed by a fraction... |
What started on a rainy note ended on a sour one. With saturday practise rained out and needing to bed in some brake pads, most of qualifying was lost. And although I didn't really take the points battle seriously until the end of the year, I found myself in 3rd place in ITB for the 1 hour Atlantic Challenge race.I knew something funny was up though when I noticed all the officials looking at my car in the morning. The same guys who probably didn't even know who I was all year were my best friends all morning. Now I had been struggling to get the car up to weight all year and unfortunately they picked the last race of the year with a points battle on the line to notice my illegally placed ballast on the passenger side (hmm). Somebody trying to teach the young guy a lesson I guess. anyway we spent all of lunch legalizing the ballast, and were still short, so we would have to run heavy heavy fuel and hope there would be enough left in the end to make weight. To make a long story short, the top two cars went out and I would of finished in second in the championship but I missed weight by 6 lbs. Oh well, 4th isn't too bad I guess, and next year I will be on the podium. Many thanks to my sponsors: Pharmasave, SignaRama, Steele VW, Ray & Jacks VW repair. Thanks to Scott Cameron and Chad Lowe for crewing. And thanks to Holly Haverstock for everything else. See ya's next year. |
