Dear Brothers in Islam, Assalamu alaikum WR WB,
Please publish this through all media available to you.
I have observed the moon today (23rd Shawwal Tuesday) at 9am from Vallioor, Tamilnadu, India and measured the angular distance between the sun and the moon. It is 75 degrees. It has attained the shape of the crescent. This means that the sun and moon will be together in six days (75/12=6) on next Monday and the Hilal would appear Monday evening somewhere in the world and Tuesday will be the first of Zulquida for the people on earth. If one observes it tomorrow the crescent would be comparatively thin and it will be certainly known that Wednesday will be the second of ZulQuaida. It is clearly known that this Shawwal has only 29 days from Monday to Monday. The calendars that give Wednesday as the first of Zulquida are certainly wrong. Zulquida is one of the sacred months and a day of it entering in Shawwal is not allowed in Shariah. The Quran says: "Innaman Naseeu ziyadathun fil kufr………" We must be very careful in the matter of Halal and Haram of Allah subhanahu wataala.
The sun and the moon are always seen after the first and last 3 days of the month and we can clearly know the dates shown by it. Quran has explained clearly how it returns like the old stalk of the date palm. This is the Urjoonul Qadeem which appears one day before the end of the month. We will never go wrong if we followed the instructions of the Quran as explained by the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam in clear words. "Ja alallahul ahillata mawaakeetha linnasi fa soomoo li ru'uyathihi wa afthiroo li ru'uyathihi fa in gumma alaikumus shahru fakmilul iddatha salaaseen" clouds and Hilal are not mentioned here. Allah subhaanahu wa ta ala has not given any role for the clouds in controlling the dates. It is wrong to say that the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam has allowed what Allah subhanahu wa taala has not allowed. Did the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam and the Sahaba go in search of the invisible Hilal? We have the stories of seeing the Hilal in tons. People always see the Hilal and the astronomy proved that moon has set before the sun on all such occasions. We have data and we can check them whenever we want.
I request all concerned authorities to correct the wrong dates of their calendars so that errors may be avoided in the day of Hajj. Zul Quaid begins on Tuesday and 29 th on which the hilal should be looked for will be Tuesday. Since the Hilal does not appear on Tuesday 30 will be completed on Wednesday and Zul hijja begins on Thursday.
May Allah guide us to the right path!
Wassalam Ali manikfan. 23-10-1427/14-11-2006
