Hikanation by the Pacific Ocean
April 12, 1980 -- Day 1

After a series of speeches delivered in the Golden Gate Bridge Park, we hiked west to the Pacific Ocean.
Seal Rock is visible in the distance.

Although we did not hike across the Golden Gate Bridge, while heading north via a trail along the coast, the bridge was visible through the trees.

On the Oakland Bay Bridge

Traffic was blocked off in two lanes to allow Hikanation hikers and others (totaling approximately 7000) to hike across the bridge from San Francisco to Oakland.
