Hikari no Kurayami
~ A Dilandau Albatou and Selena Schezar Shrine ~

Frequently Asked Questions

Dilandau looking either freaked or confused, or both. ^_~

Here's where I will post the questions people ask me the most as so to prevent me from repeating myself numerous times to all the people who keep asking the same questions. Please read over this section if you have a question to see if it is here. Because if you email me asking something that is already posted here, I will just ignore you. Sorry, but I do have a life you know. But if you want more details on something that's already posted here, than that's a different story.

And because this shrine is new, obviously it hasn't been around long enough for me to be able to create a fuller FAQ section. So I'll just post the questions I'm sure will probably be asked at least once, and I will add more as more questions come up in my email inbox.

If you have a question that is not listed here, than please email me at kawaii_vejichan@hotmail.com and I will gladly answer your question as soon as I can.

Why did you make a shrine to Selena and Dilandau?
Please check the Why Dilandau and Selena? section, though you should have noticed it on the front page unless you're blind or just plain stupid. No offense, but it's pretty hard to miss.

Just what does "Hikari no Kurayami" mean anyway?
'Hikari' means 'light', while 'kurayami' means 'darkness'. 'No' is a particle used in Japanese to show possession. So all together, it pretty much means "Light's Darkness". I think the title describes Dilandau and Selena pretty well; just think of Selena as Light, and Dilandau as Darkness ^_^

Who the heck is Selena Schezar?
Well, if you do not know the answer to this question, then you obviously have not seen most or the entire series of Escaflowne. I did warn you on the entrance page that this site has spoilers to the series. If by some odd chance that you did not come here through my entrance page, then I either suggest you leave here right away if you do not want to know what happens, or stay if you're the curious type like me and find out what happens. But if you really want to know, Selena Schezar is Allen Schezar's lost sister who was kidnapped by Zaibach where they preformed weird experiments on her, changing her fate, along with her gender, to transform her into the male warrior, Dilandau Albatou. That's right, Dilandau's a girl. Well, sort of. Many believe that Selena and Dilandau are two completely different people. I on the other hand, like to believe they're more the same than most of us think.

Why do you spell her name as 'Selena'?
As many probably know, Selena's name can be spelled many different ways. Such as: Serena, Celena, Cerena, etc. I spell it the way I do because I just like it. Doesn't mean I don't like the other spellings, since I often call her Serena as well, especially in conversation. I just find it easier to pronounce that way. Though Celena and Serena are the two most common ways of spelling it, Selena's sort of like a combination of the two. But as far as I know, there really isn't any official way of spelling it like Dilandau's name. Though her name is spelled セレナ (Se-re-na) in Japanese characters, the R can also be considered as an L since neither R or L really exist in the Japanese language. It's more of an R and L hybrid. So her name would be pronounced something like 'seh-rleh-nah'.

Can I use the stuff from your shrine for my own webpage?
Yes, but I'd appreciate it if you emailed and asked me first depending on what you want to use. If it's an image you want, by all means, use it. I got all the images off other sites myself (but I altered some of them). Just do not take any fanart without permission from the artist first. Same thing with fanfics, do not take them without permission from the author. As for files like skins and stuff like that, you must ask me first and give me some credit for it. And please do not link directly to any files on my site. Save and upload them on to your own web space. Thank you.

Can I link to the shrine?
Sure! I'd love it if you did! Though it'd be nice if you told me about it and give me a link to your own webpage so that I might put a link to yours from mine as well. Not a bad deal, ne? ^_~
