NCSU / NC Museum of Science: fossilized dinosaur heart
North Carolina & Oregon scientists used medical imaging equipment to construct a 3-dimensional computer model of an iron-stained concretion inside the chest of 'Willo', a fossilized small, plant-eating Thescelosaurus. The model reveals a heart that was more like that of a warm-blooded bird or mammal than a cold-blooded reptile. New!

NASA: 1999 Eclipse
Wednesday, August 11, 1999, the last total eclipse of the sun the past millennium cut through the heart of the most densely populated area on earth, crossing England, France, Belgium, Luxemborg, Germany (Stuttgart and Munich), Austria, Hungary, Romania (Bucharest), Bulgaria, Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and India. Excellent stuff on this eclipse and eclipses in general!
New England Waterfalls
Excellent site. Most of the nearly 100 waterfall pictures (30K to 150K) are by Peter Chapin, including this one of Glendale Falls in Middlefield, MA. Many of the waterfall descriptions include medium pictures (30K to 45K), which will have loaded by the time you've read the description.
Friends of Middlesex Fells Reservation
Part of the Winchester town web site, which includes a very nice Winchester Woodlands guide, and a good short history of the historic 27 mile long Middlesex canal (1793-1853). The many maps and outdoors pictures are nice features of this site.
Boston Common SkyCam
Tremont Street and the Boston Common are in the foreground; the Boston skyline in the background. Updated every minute, the sunsets are nice. Other SkyCams are located at Copley Square, near the Charles River Longfellow Bridge, and overlooking the business district.
Machu Picchu - The trek of a lifetime
"I've just completed my first website.  It's about a four day trek to Machu Picchu in southern Peru and is a story of friendship, bravery, heroism, pain and even a little romance." - Vince Stevenson

Yahoo! - Recreation: Outdoors: Hiking
Yahoo is a good starting point, but it only indexes titles and brief descriptions of web sites. If it finds no matches in its index, it uses a "generic" search engine. Yahoo misses an enormous amount that one or more of the search engines below will find.
