Part 4
Relena stood with her back to the door. She had heard the footsteps approaching, and now as the door opened she didn't want to face who was going to be there. She listened as someone entered and the door closed behind him and still she didn’t turn, but when she heard his voice she couldn't resist any longer.
Heero stood looking at Relena's back, "Relena…" at this she turned to face him. She had an expression on her face that seemed unfamiliar, then he placed it, 'Anger, she's angry with me.' he thought, but aloud he said, "Aya asked me to give you a message, she said Kianu has sent your resignation to the Earth Sphere and he thanks you for trusting him with your access codes, it made his job much easier." Heero was surprised at the effect his words had upon her. She had always been so strong, she had never been afraid of even him; but now he watched as she crumpled to the floor and started to sob.
Heero's words hit her like a slap in the face and everything that had been building up inside of her burst forth as her emotional dam broke. She fell to her knees and started to cry. Of course since being brought here she had suspected Kianu, but her stubborn optimism had refused to damn him in her mind until she had some proof. She had been made into such a fool; because of her the colonies and the earth were now in danger and to top things off the man whose opinion meant the most to her had finally showed up only to deliver the news of her foolishness. The verdict was in she was an idiot and dangerously incompetent. Realizing how weak she must look to him, she tried to get a hold of herself and got to her feet. She got up too fast and stumbled but Heero caught her and brought her over to the bench. Surprisingly he allowed her to cry on his shoulder, but it wasn't long before her sobs trailed off to sniffles and then she was quiet completely.
Relena stood up, Heero's nearness was too much all of a sudden. She looked down at her feet shamefully, "I guess you want to know what that message meant." Heero shifted in his seat slightly, "You don't owe me any explanations." Relena smiled at that, "Oh but I do. If it hadn't been for me none of this would be happening right now. Kianu was my assistant. He was appointed to me by the Earth Sphere, I did check his background, unfortunately I allowed him to become more than my assistant." Heero's eyes widened a little at this but he remained silent. "I guess he could tell that I was lonely and inexperienced with men. He said all the right things, played all the right moves and I trusted him completely. None of that can excuse me though. I allowed my emotions to cloud my judgement causing my irrational trust in him. So now we are here while Aya does God knows what to the peace we all fought so hard for. I let my guard down, this is all my fault."
Relena watched stunned as Heero approached her, and reflexively she backed up a step until she was stopped by the cell's wall. Heero stood extremely close to her and reaching up pulled her head forward to rest on his own. "This is not your fault. From what I've seen Aya has many resources and lots of patience. If she hadn't gotten what she wanted from you using Kianu she would have tried something else. Perhaps something more violent. If anyone has failed it was me. I made a promise to you that I failed to keep, but it was only because I wanted to be able to promise you something more."
At this Relena pushed him away as tears once again stung her eyes; "No I can't let this happen again." Heero watched stunned as she backed away from him as far as she could. "You can't understand what you did to me. 5 years Heero, 5 years. When you left I blamed myself and it shattered my self confidence. I've spent this time without you crushing any feelings I had for you just to feel sane again. I can't allow myself to feel anything for you ever again; it would destroy me."
Heero watched as Relena brought her hands up to her face and cried. Now it was his turn to look down in shame, but it was not Heero's nature to give up. Quickly he closed the little distance between them and forcefully took her into a tight embrace. She tried to fight at first but quickly surrendered and hugged him back fiercely. Speaking softly close to her ear he explained himself, "I should have told you this a long time ago buy I needed to learn how. I left because I had to do it on my own, and I didn't tell you where I was because you needed the chance to build your life without me. Part of me wanted to come back to find you happily married with someone as perfect as you, but the rest of me knew I would do what I had to to get what I wanted, what I needed. I never understood how much my decision hurt you, I never wanted to do that. You always seemed like you could handle anything, I didn't think my absence would upset you so much. I just needed time to reawaken Heero Yuy the person and merge him with Heero Yuy the perfect soldier. Relena…I'm sorry."
Relena tried to stay angry but she had no defenses for such a show of feeling. She forgave him everything immediately. She pulled back just enough so she could see his face. Slowly he leaned towards her. She closed her eyes as their lips were drawn together, but a sudden noise broke them apart before they could meet. Both of their heads swung towards the door where Kianu stood with a gun pointed at Heero. "Get away from her!" He shouted at the couple. Heero remained blank, refusing to move. Kianu cocked the trigger and more softly demanded, "I said get away from her. I won't ask again."

Hilde followed Wufei down the sterile white hallways, a little unsure of herself. When approaching the coordinates Wufei had given her he had come to escort her and been pleased to see her assuming that Duo was with her. Once he had learned that it was just her, he seemed upset. He stopped in front of a room and held the door open for her, "In here." She did as he ordered and sat down at the table placed in the middle of the room and he sat down beside her. Unable to stand the silence any longer she leaned towards him, "Wufei what is going on?" Wufei scowled, "Hush woman, you'll learn soon enough." Just then another door opened and a man and woman entered. The young woman looked exactly like Dorothy, but before Hilde could say anything the woman started to speak, "I know, but I'm her sister Aya." She then turned her attention to Wufei, "This isn't exactly what I was expecting Wufei. We have the Gundam but we need a suitable pilot for it. Are you sure she is capable." Wufei scowled at Aya now, "Have you read her file?" Aya smiled and turned to Hilde, "Miss Hilde you are an impressive operative no disrespect it's just that I was expecting a Gundam pilot. However I've reviewed your military service during the troubled times of the past, and I have to agree that you have much potential, but that's not enough." Hilde started to get angry but before she could stick up for herself Aya continued, "I don't want to give up on you though, I just want to know if you're willing to take what we have to offer to become the best." Hilde faced Aya determinedly, "Of course I am." Aya gestured to the man beside her, "Good, that's where he will come in." The man looked at Hilde, "I am going to train you. You can call me Lowe." The man then turned to Aya, "How much time do I have?" Aya shrugged, "The most I can give you is 8 months, maybe a year." The man frowned, "That isn't a lot of time, we will have to be training non stop." Aya stopped before exiting the room and turned to look at Hilde, "I have faith that she can handle it." Hilde couldn’t take this anymore and she stood up angrily, "Training for what? What are you guys talking about?" It was Lowe that answered her of course, "I'm going to make you into the perfect soldier."
Well that is part four. I wasn't sure about who trained Heero, I think it was Odin Lowe but I thought he died, so let's just say he didn't. Comments or anything, email me at jaimelynn1978@yahoo.com
