The next day Duo and Hilde were on the plane. It was 10 in the morning and they were supposed to make it to the island at 3 P.M. Both were pretty excited and couldn’t wait to get on the ship…

-Ding!- "Hello everyone, this is your captain! We are now entering the city of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Please remain in your seats for the rest of the ride. We should be landing in 10 minutes. Thank you for riding with us and please visit us again soon!"

"DUO!!!!! We’re here! We’re here!!! Look!" Hilde was pulling on Duo’s braid and staring out her window. "Which ship is ours??? Which one? Duo, are you paying attention! Look! Is that it? How bout that one? Oh, look at the sea, look how blue it is!"

Duo looked at the sky and the sea, admiring the blue. He noticed a dock where 5 ships were, trying to pick out which one they were going to get on very soon. The plane landed and they were taken to a tour bus that was headed for the ship. A jolly lady with a big smile told them about the city. She pointed out famous places and some of the major landmarks. Hilde noticed some Puerto Rican riding a horse along the side of the road. The lady said that was normal and many people owned horses around there. They finally made it to the seaside and jumped out, eager to get on the ship. The couple stared at it in awe practically drooling. "Royal Caribbean International, Nordic Empress." The ship seemed to be many stories high, and they could hear faint music from the top. Duo started dancing beside Hilde with a huge grin on his face.

"Stop that!" Hilde smiled at him. Duo stopped and they got on the ship. Once the two found their room they met a nice, short lady who was the maid for their cabin room and the rows around them. Her name was Christine and she showed them how to open their room with the key card and where to find an extra one.

The cabin room was cozy and small. Hilde and Duo’s suitcases were on the bed straight in front of them. To the left was a small bathroom with a shower and to the right was a closet. Next to the closet was a little dresser with a gift set on top.

"Look! Someone left us something!" Hilde looked at the box and found a small white envelope. She read the letter out loud:

Duo and Hilde,

"Aww!! That was sweet of him! And look! A little chocolate dolphin!" Duo was ripping through the box staring at a chocolate dolphin and a chocolate and cherry pizza slice. Hilde told Duo that they should change into something cooler (they had on pants and sweatshirts) then go check out the rest of the ship…

It was about 1:00 by the time they were done with changing and messing with their suitcases. Duo wore black slacks with a white shirt. Hilde wore a black dress down to her knees and a matching beret and shoes. They headed for the right side of the ship and walked up the carpeted stairs to the deck. The whole deck was carpeted turquoise with a playpen for children to the side. As they headed for the front of the ship they passed a bar with stools, and a Spanish looking man behind the counter. Ahead were a pool, a Jacuzzi, and a band playing Jamaican music. Duo grabbed Hilde’s hand and started dancing to the music.

"Hey!!" Hilde laughed and joined in with Duo. The song ended and the two ran up to the edge of the ship. It hadn’t left the dock yet.

"I got an idea! Let’s go see the middle of the entire ship!" Duo ran to the door then to the stairs. They entered the middle room, which was made up of a marble staircase, 2 elevators, and a small man-made waterfall.

"Whoa… Kool!" Duo said, practically drooling.

"I wanna get some action! I heard that dinner will be served soon!" Hilde said staring at the opening to the Dining Room. Duo was staring at the door to the Casino.

"Let’s go in… there!" Duo walked towards the casino. But Hilde grabbed him and told him they didn’t have that much money. "Hilde, $500 goes a long way," Duo replied smirking.

"Fine. $20. That’s all. Okay?" Hilde ordered.

"K!" Duo went to the door and cashed in the money for coins. He hopped over to a slot machine and put in one of the coins. Duo squealed as he pulled the lever and smiled at Hilde. "I’ve never been in a Casino before!"

Hilde laughed. "It’s probably cuz we aren’t old enough," she whispered to him. Duo smirked. A Mexican looking man came over to them and said something in Spanish. Duo just looked at him puzzled and the man spoke in English: "Are you 18 years of age?"

Duo said, "Yes, we are. Is there a problem?"

The man said, "I’m sorry sir. You and your wife look a little young for your age." He walked away and Duo stared stunned at his back then turned to Hilde. She was just as stunned and was blushing.

"Wife?" She said and looked at Duo, smiling.

Duo smiled back and turned to the machine again…

Duo ended up winning a quarter. They went to their room to get ready for dinner and went to the dining room. Duo and Hilde met their table waiter, whom Hilde decided to call Ricky Martin. (He had a funny voice and was from Guam), and another younger boy from Brazil that they called Smiley. They were served appetizers, soup, salad, main dish, and the dessert. Hilde was stuffed when Duo asked for a second slice of lemon cake.

"Duo that’s enough! I wanna see the ship when it departs! Come one lets go to the front and see it!"

Once they got there, there were already many people gazing at the edge of the water and where it broke against the hard metal of the ship. Hilde tried to find a spot to see, but couldn’t so Duo broke a spot between two people and ushered Hilde in front of him. Hilde stood in front of him against the rail staring at the waves and the land leaving their vision. Lights were everywhere, since it was already dark. Hilde shivered from the cold and Duo wrapped his arms around her stomach.

He’s never done that before… I like it… Hilde smiled and blushed. She laid her hands on top of Duo’s and stared out at the scenery in front of her.

Whoa… God, she looks so good in that dress… Duo looked at Hilde and kissed her neck.

Hilde giggled and told him that tickled. Don’t stop. She turned to him and kissed his cheek, then quickly turned back. Duo whispered to her "C’mon. Let’s go watch that comedy show they are supposed to have!"

The two entered the Strike Up the Band Lounge and looked around in awe. The whole room was a deep shade of red with a tan carpet, walls, and ceiling. The proscenium stage curtain was twinkling and had pastel colors lighting up on it. Hilde headed for one of the seats towards the back. There were couches along the back with tables in front of them and circular tables everywhere else with 3 padded seats by each one. It wasn’t that crowded yet but there were people heading towards the Lounge waiting to get inside. Hilde chose a seat near the back with one of the tables. In a few minutes a man came by asking if they wanted refreshments. Both asked for Cokes.

The show was spectacular. There was a comedy act by Dan Ware and a comedic juggling act by Billy Prudhomme. By the end of the show Hilde was very tired and they headed for their room, took showers and got in bed.

Duo thought about this situation. I’ve never been in the same bed with Hilde… hmmm… He smirked, but decided against his mischievous thoughts. "Goodnight Hilde."
