"Good morning everyone! This is your captain speaking. It is 7:00 AM. We have entered the coast of St. Thomas, USVI. Some things you may want to do today include scuba diving, visiting the downtown shopping district, or relaxing at Magen’s Bay. Enjoy your day! Breakfast is now being served in the front room."

Hilde woke up to the speaker and had to shake Duo awake. "Duo! We’re at St. Thomas! Whatcha wanna do today?"

Duo opened his eyes slowly and buried his face in the pillow. "I’m tired…"

"Fine." Hilde scoffed, "I’m going to take a shower and change. When I’m out you better be up, cuz I’m hungry." Duo didn’t reply.

Hilde took a shower and changed into some nice, casual clothes for the day. She wore sandles, jean shorts, a blue t-shirt, and a matching blue beret. Duo was up by the time she was done. He took a shower, and had Hilde do his braid. Then they finally went to the front room for breakfast. Hilde discovered why it was called the front room. It was at the bow of the ship; above was a skylight and it looked bright and sunny outside. They got in line at the breakfast bar and got all sorts of food, from fruits to dounuts to crossants! At the end was a fish ice sculpture that Hilde admired. She got a cup of sweet tea and Duo got some orange juice. They stayed in there for a while then went to the lobby.

"Whoa! Look at all that stuff they’re setting up!" Duo said pointing. There were tables with glittering jewelry at the top of the staircase. Hilde went straight over to the elegant looking rings. Some had small jewels in the middle and some very large. Many had colored jewels. Hilde noticed a pretty gold one with a purple stone. A saleslady came up to the two and told her about the ring.

"That ring is 24-karat gold and has a Tanzinite jewel in the middle. Tanzinite is getting very rare and pricey. You seem to like it very much! It costs $120 if you would like to buy it." She smiled at Hilde.

"Oh, that’s a lot for a ring… I think I’ll pass for now, sorry." Hilde told the saleslady. She and Duo went to the giftshop right next to the tables. Hilde looked around for some nice souvineir.

"Hey Hilde I’ll be right back, I, uh… gotta go to the bathroom." Duo patted her shoulder and left the giftshop. Now in the lobby, Duo came over to the saleslady and payed for the ring Hilde was practically drooling over. She’s gonna love me for this one!! He smiled to himself and stuck the ring in his pocket. Hilde came out a few seconds later with a CD.

"Look! It’s the Caribbean Four! Those Jamaican guys that were singing on the deck," she said happily showing off her new disc. She noticed Duo’s nervous laughter and how he put his hands behind his back like he was hiding something. "Duo…? What are you hiding," she said slowly, "let me see!!"

Duo smiled. "Nothing, my dear! What shall we do now?" Hilde thought for a while. "Well, the captain said there’s a shopping district and some Bay, so how about that?" Hilde agreed and they went to the shopping district. It was still very sunny out when a cab came by and asked if they needed a lift. Duo pulled Hilde in and said they were going to Megan’s Bay.

The bay was on the other side of the island, but not to far at all from where they docked. It was a clear blue color and surrounded by hills and forest on both sides. They took of their t-shirts with their swimsuits beneath them. Duo pushed Hilde into the water then jumped in after her.

"DUO!!!!" Hilde shreiked as he pulled her underwater with him. She didn’t open her eyes because of the salt but finally opened then wide when something pressed against her lips. Duo was kissing her sweetly and softly. He pulled away quickly and both came up for air. They stared at each other for a few minutes then Duo splashed Hilde.

"You just had to ruin the good moment!" Hilde splashed him back while laughing. "I’m gonna get out on the beach for a while and tan, k?" Duo pouted for a few minutes and finally decided to swim around for a while.

After about half an hour later Duo looked over to where Hilde was sitting. Some guy was talking to her and she kept glancing at Duo. She stared at Duo as he glared at her. The guy talking to her touched her cheek and got a little close to her face. Hilde shook her head, got up and headed for the water. She swam over to Duo but he went underwater and turned around. Hilde, expecting Duo to come up any second, waited. He finally came up and Hilde held on to his arm, making him face her.

"Who’s he?" Duo asked nastily.

"I don’t know who he is! He just came over to me and started talking. I guess he thought I was alone…" Hilde told Duo.

Duo smiled as if he knew he didn’t stand a chance with Hilde compared to the guy. "You didn’t seem to mind."

Hilde shook Duo by the shoulders. "Duo! Didn’t you see me looking at you? I wanna be with you, not some guy trying to turn me on!" Hilde paused waiting for him to reply. He looked at the sky. Hilde hugged Duo pleading for him to say something.

"Duo… please… You know I love you! You know it! I didn’t even know that guy! Please… Duo…" Hilde looked up at Duo, who was hugging her back.

"I get jealous way too easy, huh?" He smiled at her.

"Make-up?" Hilde asked.

Duo laughed. "Of course, babe!"

They hung around the Bay until the cab driver got back who took them back to the ship around 3:00 P.M. The two hung around the shopping district and got their friends some keychains. They finally got hungry and went back to their room to change into evening wear for dinner. Hilde wore a blue dress and Duo wore his black suit. Duo stuck the ring in his pants pocket and ushered Hilde to the diner room. As they ate, Duo was being quiet and kept looking at his food.

Hilde chewed up her lobster then asked Duo what was wrong.

"Huh? Oh… nothing Hilde." He ate some food then looked up at Hilde. "Hey, I wanna ask you a question, okay? And take it seriously, okay?"

Hilde watched him closely. "Okay."

Duo pulled a purple velvet box out of his pocket and opened it. "Hilde, if I asked you to be mine forever, what would you say?"

Hilde stared at the ring, then up at Duo and smiled. "I would say no matter what, I would!" Duo slipped the ring on her finger and gave her a kiss. The rest of the time in the diner room, Hilde didn’t speak much, just nibbled on her lobster and twisted the tanzinite ring on her finger, watching it shimmer in the dimmed lights. Since they were on the second floor of the room, they were able to see everything outside. A few minutes later, someone got on the loudspeakers and spoke:

"Everyone, please put your hands together for the people who made it possible for tonight’s dinner!" Duo and Hilde clapped while all the ushers came in the room, including Smiley and Ricky. Ricky led the pack and went down the stairs to the lower floor, where he jumped on top of the white grand piano and started singing. Hilde laughed but Duo just clapped along. He looked at Hilde’s happy expression then at Ricky taking off his shirt. He turned and left.

Hilde yelled over the noise at Duo "Isn’t this great?!" She didn’t hear a reply so she turned around and saw no one. Hilde left the commotion and entered the hallway. She looked left and right but couldn’t find her love. Hilde decided to go up to the top deck and catch some air. She passed the bar where a man wistled at her and saw Duo leaning on the railing along the side. He was staring at the endless ocean of dark blue. Hilde walked up to him again twisting the ring but staring at the back of his head and his braid blowing in the ocean wind.

"You barely ate anything Duo… Aren’t you starving?" Hilde asked him softly.

Duo paused. "I lost my appetite."

"Duo, why did you run off like that? We were supposed to be having a good time, just goofing off that’s all." Hilde said.

Duo turned around and smiled at her. "Goofing off with the guy on the piano. I wasn’t having a good time, sitting there watching you laugh and smile at Ricky boy."

"Duo, everyone else in there was laughing. Why can’t you have a good time too?" Hilde crossed her arms and waited for an answer. "Well?" Duo sighed and started heading for the door. "I’m sorry, Hilde… I’m goin to bed now."

Hilde came after him. "No, lets just go in. The night hasn’t ended yet!!"

Duo smiled at her and led her to the lobby. The stuwardess was taking pictures of people in front of the grand staircase and a painting of the moon above the ocean. Hilde grabbed Duo’s arm and made him get in line with her for pictures. The photographer put Duo behind Hilde with his arms around her. Hilde didn’t mind. They got their pictures and went to the Strike Up The Band Lounge. After the show they went back up to the deck and sat at the bar. Duo bought a strawberry daquari they shared. The Carrabean Four were playing some songs behind them. After many fast Jamaican songs, a slow song was sung. Duo held Hilde’s hand and led her in front of the band. Even though Hilde was red in the face she still danced with Duo. She put her hands on his back and held him closely to her with her head on his shoulder. Duo held her to him and guided the steps. They both were lost in thought when the song ended. Duo lifted Hilde’s chin and kissed her passionately. Hilde didn’t break it, but fell deeper into the kiss. Once it ended, Hilde wispered to Duo. "Lets go down to our room."
