The Parent Trap:

Part One

Intro:

The year is After Colonies 214. Heero Yuy and Relena Darlian/Peacecraft have been married from A.C. 202 to A.C. 203. Their marriage ended in an abrupt divorce, leaving behind twin daughters, the elder Rei Sylvia Yuy and the younger Eileen Hildegard Yuy. Relena took custody of Eileen while Heero took custody of Rei. Rei is currently living with her father in California, USA, often seeing her father’s friends from the war. Eileen has taken on the last name Merquise for privacy purposes. She currently lives with her mother and her uncle, Zechs Merquise/Milliardo Peacecraft and his wife, Lucrezia Noin, in the former Sank Kingdom. Eileen also sees her mother’s friends often.

Former Sank Kingdom

Eileen folded the letter from her mother and sighed. Mom was away again, on some other diplomatic meeting trip thingy. Eileen Merquise loved her mother Relena Darlian dearly, but her work put some strain on their mother/daughter relationship. Eileen pushed back a section of her blond streaked brown hair, and sighed. She unfolded the letter again, and read it for the twelfth time that day.

Eileen,
Unfortunately, we can’t spend summer vacation together as we planned. I have to go to another diplomats meeting on the L2 colony. Your Uncle Zechs and Aunt Noin are away, also, and Dorothy has to come with me on this trip, too. Hilde would have you stay with her, but she just received notice that she landed the part in the new television series airing a month from now. Anyhow, I’ve arranged for you to go to a summer camp in America. It will be a month and a half long, and your aunt and uncle will be back when you come home.
Love and Kisses,
Mom

Just then, Pagan walked into the room.

"Eileen, it’s time to go to the airport," he said.

"All right,"

Eileen followed Pagan out the Peacecraft mansion and headed for the limo.

"Duo! Duo!" Rei shouted.

Rei’s father’s best friend came running.

"What is it, Rei?" he asked.

"Why the heck is Dad making me go to summer camp?" the brunette girl exploded.

Duo winced. For a girl her age, Heero Yuy’s daughter sure had a lot of spitfire in her. Must be genetic…

"Your dad had some loose ends to tie up during the summer. He thought camp would be fun," Duo lied. Of course, that wasn’t the real reason Heero was sending Rei to camp.

Heero never told Rei about the war and his positions as Gundam pilot. Or about her mother, for that matter. Of course, she would find out eventually, but Heero decided that for now, she could just be a normal girl.

Duo sighed, and glanced at the glaring adolescent. Rei was growing up to look a lot like her mom. She had her father’s dark brown hair, but it was streaked with dark blond and Rei’s facial features were almost identical to Relena’s.

‘Same aquamarine eyes, same face, same…everything, almost. I guess Heero just didn’t want any more memories of ojousan…’ Duo thought.

He glanced back at Rei, who was still glaring at him. Duo winced. Not so fortunately, Rei had picked up one thing from her father. The patented Yuy Glare of Death.

One week later

Camp Warren, U.S.A.

Rei took off her sunglasses and peered around the campgrounds. It was a pretty place, and out of the corner of her eye she could see a tall Caucasian man in the camp counselor uniform. She squinted, and smiled. Rei knew that there had to be some reason her father had chosen this particular camp for her. After all, they both only knew one guy that had that massive set of spiky bangs. She ran over.

"Hi, Trowa!" Rei chirped.

Trowa jumped about six feet into the air, and turned around.

"Oh. It’s you," he said.

"Oh, gee. Thanks," Rei mumbled.

"It’s not that I’m not glad to see you. I thought you were Catherine,"

"And that’s bad because?"

"She’s sorta always on my case. I love my sister dearly, but she does get a little bit overprotective at times," Trowa said.

Rei grinned, and asked, "Does she let you ride your motorcycle?"

"If I wear a helmet and have a chaperone with me. Honestly, don’t you think I can handle riding without one?"

"To be fair, riding without a helmet is very dangerous," Rei pointed out.

Her father’s friend made a face.

"Yeah, right. Anyhow, I have to get back to work. Catherine and I are teaching the acrobatics class. See you, Rei!"

"Bye, Trowa!" Rei said.

Rei had already signed in and she was told that she was in Cabin #2. She grabbed her duffel, and walked towards her cabin. Meanwhile, a long, pink limo pulled into the parking lot. Eileen stepped out, and observed her surroundings.

"It’s quite picturesque, don’t you think, Pagan?" she asked.

"Yes, I suppose. I still don’t understand why Miss Relena sent you to a camp in America," Pagan said.

"Neither do I, but I might as well make the best of it," Eileen replied.

Pagan handed Eileen her bags, and she noticed a small wooden box that hadn’t been there before. She looked at Pagan.

"It’s a gift from your Uncle Zechs,"

Eileen nodded.

"You’ve been assigned to Cabin #3. Remember, if you need anything, just call. I’ll come as soon as I can," Pagan told her.

"I’ll be fine," Eileen assured him

They hugged, and Eileen walked to her cabin.

The Next Day

Camp Warren, U.S.A.

"That was a lot of fun!" Eileen said to one of her friends. She’d just won a tennis match and was heading towards another activity.

Meanwhile, Rei was in the fencing station, and she’d just won another match. Trowa was refereeing the matches, and was very impressed with Rei’s fencing skills. Her father had taught her well. When Rei was very young, she was introduced to Wufei and he and Quatre taught her how to fence. By now, Rei was just as good as both of them. She was also skilled in martial arts, which she’d picked up from her father, Wufei, and Duo.

"Does anybody else want to challenge the undefeated champion from California, Rei Yuy?" he shouted tiredly.

Eileen walked over. Trowa’s eyed widened. She looked exactly like Rei!

"I’ll take a whack at it," she said.

He nodded, and handed her the fencing uniform. She put it on, and stood in the starting position.

"En garde…fence!"

The two girls began fencing. Eileen was also good at fencing, since Zechs and Dorothy had taught her. They gradually moved into the audience, who screamed and jumped out of the way. Eileen jumped onto a haystack, barely avoiding Rei’s foil. Rei thrust her foil again, and this time Eileen jumped onto a dock above a small pond. Eileen quickly moved so that Rei was standing on the edge of the dock, and thrust her foil out. Rei screamed, and fell into the pond.

"Oh, are you okay? Let me help you," Eileen said, extending her hand.

"No, let me help you!" Rei said, and pulled Eileen into the pond.

Trowa came running, and barely avoided chuckling as he saw the two girls pull themselves out of the pond. Catherine handed them two towels to dry off.

"Well, that was quite a show you put on. Now, what’s the name of our new fencing champion?" he asked amusedly.

"Eileen Merquise," Eileen responded politely, glaring at Rei.

"That’s not fair! She pushed me in!" Rei protested.

"I did not! You fell in yourself!" Eileen angrily rebuked.

"Now, girls. It was only a fencing match. Shake hands," Catherine said desperately, trying to soothe them.

"NO WAY!" they both shouted at her.

"Now, Eileen, I mean Rei, I mean, Eileen," Catherine said pleadingly, looking at both the glaring girls.

Trowa, who had witnessed this performance, just shook his head. Both girls were just like their mother. Unfortunately, they had used their father’s trademark on Catherine; the patented Yuy Glare of Death.

The bell for lunch sounded, and both girls, still glaring at each other, stormed off to the pavilion to eat.
