Pedro and Randy Dominate FAR in near Sweep. Game 1: Moo 3 Far 2 Boxscore 49,293 fans watched an exciting game at Pro Player Stadium. The mighty Moose Jaw Breakers topped the Farmington Hillsbillies by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2. Moose Jaw delivered all the runs required in the 8th inning scoring 3 runs on 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Larry Walker got things rolling when he was hit by a pitch. Manny Ramirez stepped up to the plate and he stroked a base-hit. Alex Rodriguez then laced a one-base hit bringing in a run. Rodriguez swiped second base. Cal Ripken Jr. stepped into the box and doubled as another two runners scored. The game was a scoreless duel until the 8th inning. Pedro Martinez(25-8) allowed 1 run in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Armando Benitez got the save, his 10th. Kevin Millwood(8-3) absorbed the loss. Game 2: Moo 2 Far 1 Boxscore Randy Johnson(26-13) and Kris Benson(21-10) treated the Moose Jaw fans to a fine pitching duel at Pro Player Stadium. The Moose Jaw Breakers eventually emerged as victors over the Farmington Hillsbillies by the score of 2 to 1. Moose Jaw brought 1 run across the plate in the bottom of the 6th inning. Farmington had 8 hits in the game while Moose Jaw had 5, but Moose Jaw had the more timely hits. Johnson got help from Armando Benitez who was credited with his 11th save. 'I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it was nothing.' Johnson said. I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't put the ball where I wanted it.' Game 3: Moo 16 Far 7 Boxscore Carlos Delgado slammed 3 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the amazing Moose Jaw Breakers beat the Farmington Hillsbillies by a score of 16 to 7. Delgado enjoyed a great day at the plate. He lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 2nd inning, doubled in the 5th inning, bombed a two-run dinger in the 6th inning, doubled in the 8th inning and lifted one out of the park for a two run home run (his 53rd of the season) in the 9th inning. Moose Jaw provided plenty of action in the 9th inning when they had 4 runs on 5 hits. The Moose Jaw offense was great, scoring in 8 of the 9 innings. The win went to Bartolo Colon(15-9) who allowed 4 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. Curt Schilling(11-3) was hit with the loss. He served up 5 gopher balls in 8 innings. 'Some days it just all comes together, and this was one of them' Delgado said. 'I've been seeing the ball pretty well lately.' Game 4: Far 15 Moo 4 Boxscore Jeff Bagwell left the yard and had 3 RBI as the Farmington Hillsbillies man-handled the Moose Jaw Breakers - the final score was 15 to 4. It was a good day for Farmington thanks to Bagwell. He doubled scoring a run in the 1st inning, cracked a solo homerun (his 53rd of the season) in the 3rd inning and doubled which scored a run in the 6th inning. Farmington lit up the scoreboard in the 6th inning when they had 6 runs on 5 hits. Farmington out-hit Moose Jaw for the game, 15 hits to 7. Pete Harnisch(16-11) got the win allowing 4 runs in 5 innings. Harnisch got help from Scott Elarton who earned his 3rd save. Dustin Hermanson(16-7) took the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 7 hits and 4 walks in 4 innings. Game 5: Moo 6 Far 1 Boxscore Pedro Martinez held Farmington to 3 hits at Pro Player Stadium where the Moose Jaw Breakers beat the Farmington Hillsbillies 6 to 1. Moose Jaw went ahead for good in the bottom of the 2nd inning as they scored 2 runs on 2 base hits. That was all Martinez(26-8) needed. The pitchers took over after the 3rd inning as neither team was able to score again. Kevin Millwood(8-4) ended up with the loss. Moose Jaw scored big getting 6 runs off him in 3 and 1/3 innings. When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Martinez offered, 'The fan's really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout totals up there in the stands.
