On Monday 17th October I arrived at Melbourne for the ferry trip over to Tasmania. The trip is overnight so I put 'Dianna' safely to bed and settled down on the ferry for the night. I arrived in (sunny) Tassie the next morning at 8 a.m. and set off for Stanley to see Barb, Danny and Sophie for a few days. Here we are sat on the steps of the house which is just under the 'Nut' at Stanley. The weather was varriable on the North West coast - but it didn't matter...I was just pleased to be back in Tassie!

After a wonderful week in the North West I started the drive down the rugged West Coast to Strahan passing through the mining town of Zeehan.
Strahan on the West Coast is set on banks of Maquarie Harbour, which about four times larger than Sydney Harbour. This was the view from the caravan park on the foreshore where I stayed.

The weather is Strahan was not great, but I did have a fabulous day out on a cruise of the harbour and the Gordon River - just look at that sky.

This is the entrance to Maquarie Harbour which is called Hells Gate. When the first convicts were brought through here to Sarah Island they apparently thought that they were going to hell!
