Appearance: Kouken is a tall, slender boy for his age, about 5' 8", with light orange-red hair that flows down his back that he wears in a low ponytail for personal convenience. He has dark brown eyes and a light complexion.
Clothing Description: When not wearing the required boy's uniform in school, Kouken opts for jeans, T-shirts and sweaters. His duelist's outfit consists of a classic Utena-styled high-collared forest green jacket with white trim and gold fastenings, as well as slightly darker green pants and black men's dress shoes.
Personality: An intelligent, trustworthy young
man, Kouken is a laid-back, very natural person who follows his own path without
hesitation. He very rarely second guesses himself and has a strong
intuition that he trusts. His greatest fault is that he sometimes puts too
much stock in himself, and not enough in others; he can get overly cocky and
allow himself to make stupid errors. He also has a temper that
occasionally erupts if he gets frustrated over something 'stupid'.
He has a good sense of humor and likes people. He dislikes mainstream
culture and has a taste for the weird.
History: Kouken grew up with his small family in the
forested area of Aomori, Japan, leading a fairly uneventful lifestyle for the
most part. His family was nicely well-off-his father worked as a
journalist and his mother was an architect. His grandmother largely took
care of him during his childhood and took him for long walks in the woods,
during which she'd tell him someday he'd be part of "something great",
and where he learned to love nature and animals. He'd spend lots of time,
when he had it, in the outdoors, where he felt free and alive.
Before he transferred to Heion Kisetsu, Kouken's grandmother passed away of
natural causes, leaving him with a bit of a depressive leftover funk. One
night after her death he had a dream that she came to tell him she would always
be with him. When he awoke afterward, the form of his grandmother was fading
away in front of his eyes. Now, even though he loves his grandmother and
isn't truly afraid of her, he's unnerved by the thought of maybe being haunted.
