Appearance:

Ashi's mannerisms are very laid back normally, very relaxed but still very good posture, as well as an almost happy go lucky air about him. He seldom ever seems to be worrying. His outward appearance is always cool calm collected and most importantly relaxed.

Physical Description:

Ashi Takenaga is a striking young man. He stands slightly above 5'5" tall and has a slender frame. His gently rounded face is highlighted by his crystal green eyes and framed by a mane of brown hair that stretches to just below his shoulder blades. 

Clothing Descriptions:

He dresses in the school uniform, as does everyone else. When not in the school uniform he is wears light blue kaki pants and a white button down shirt which is accentuated by blue trim on the collar and cuffs. The top button of the shirt is always unbuttoned exposing a distinguishing birthmark just above his sternum. He also has his left ear pierced with a sapphire and silver stud. The one odd thing is that he seldom ever wears his duelists ring, the only time someone will see him with it on is when entering or exiting a dueling area; when he is in the rose garden he tends to as his job, which has blue, white red and yellow roses in it, or during the middle of a thunderstorm when he is standing in the rain. When he does wear his dueling ring it is worn on his right hand. On his left hand he wears a silver band that is set for two stones. One is a sapphire, the other is currently empty but someday hold the stone appropriate for his true love. Even though he does not wear his ring always Ashi does carry it with him on a silver chain about his neck tucked safely under his uniform or shirt. Also on that same silver cord he wears a stylized key pendant that like the ring has two settings for gems, one being a sapphire and the other still empty. This is the symbolic representation of the Key to his Heart, until he can finally set it with the other stone and give a matching one kept in a case in his dresser he will be tied to his. If ever he is not carrying his personal key, his personality shifts drastically to a deep depressive state where he is practically helpless; overcome with sorrow and doubts about who he is and his own self worth. If ever the matching key is held by someone and shown to him the results will be drastic, as no one has ever touched the matching key there is no standard to judge how he will react.

Personality:

Above all else to thin own self be true.... Honor above pride..... Ashi is a young man of great moral character. Entering into Heion Kisetsu Academy he is searching for the one person who was able to defeat him in the Junior Kendo Tournaments. Deep inside Ashi is actually a very warm and caring individual, who has a since of knowing how people he knows are feeling when he sees them. He is very good at reading body language.

History:

Ashi was born in the city of Akita, to a moderately well off family in the early spring of 1983. He had a fairly normal life up until the age of six, when he began learning Kendo from his father who was an instructor at one of the major dojos focusing in the Tatsumi Ryu style. With his father he practiced day in and day out honing his skills to be the best, even competing in some of the junior tournaments and doing fairly well. The highlight of his training was one afternoon in the fall of 1995 at the age of 12, after having reached the level of yondan, or junior instructor, at one of the major Junior division tournaments when he made it to the finals. In the finals he faced a girl his age and equally skilled..... Blow after blow passed each scoring points for form, style and grace. The contest ended with both of them exhausted after blocking blow after blow and finally the mysterious girl landed the final blow winning the competition. Ashi was instantly enamored by her, her style, her grace, the one person who he could consider an equal. After that fateful encounter Ashi's life was forever changed, he was completely smitten by her. Ashi stepped up his training to impress the one who he felt deserved his love and respect, practicing even harder with his father in addition to enrolling in a dojo that taught Iaido of the Tatsumi Ryu style to supplement his kendo training. As another year passed and he had learned a great deal from his combined trainings, he decided to return to the Junior Tournament in the spring of 1997. Ashi very easily worked through the ranks in the kendo tournament coming to his final match, where he squared off against the one he was smitten by, doing just as well as before if not better, but in the end he could not bring himself to land the winning blow when the opportunity presented itself, instead creating a dance with his blade as his heart sung its love for this mysterious young lady. This time instead of being beaten Ashi let her win the tournament. After the match he learned that she was attending Heion Kisetsu Academy, and has been applying for entrance there since then. In the spring of 1999 he tested and achieved for the rank of godan in Kendo matching his father's skills. Also by that time he had reached the rank of sandan in Iaido, showing his skill with the blade in any situation. When he turned 17 in the spring of 2000, he was unable to compete in the junior division any longer, having reached the age category for the national tournaments. Thus he decided to take a hiatus from the tournaments to pursue other styles of swordplay. He was finally accepted to attend Heion Kisetsu Academy for the fall of 2001, where he hoped to study fencing in addition to normal academics, and continuing his kendo and Iaido training. More importantly he hopes to track down the mysterious woman who had won his heart years ago and with hope tell her just how he feels, in hopes that she reciprocates the feeling.
