HINTS
- Flies or bees bothering you? Spray them with hairspray and they
will take a quick dive.
- Sealed envelope - Put in freezer for a few hours, then slide
knife under the flap. The envelope can then be resealed.
- Use empty toilet paper roll to store appliance cords. It
keeps them neat and you can write on the roll what appliance it
belongs to.
- For icy door steps in freezing temperatures, get warm water and
put Dawn dishwashing liquid in it. Pour all over the steps and
they won't refreeze.
- Crayon marks on the walls? This worked wonderfully! A damp rag
dipped in baking soda. Comes off with little effort (elbow
grease, that is!)
- Permanent marker on appliances/counter tops (like store receipt
BLUE!) - rubbing alcohol on paper towel.
- Use VERTICAL strokes when washing windows OUTSIDE, and
HORIZONTAL on INSIDE windows. This way you can tell which side has
the streak.
- Spray a bit of perfume on the light bulb in any room to create
a lovely light scent in each room when the light is turned on.
- Candles will last a lot longer if placed in the freezer for at
least 3 hours before burning.
- To clean artificial flowers, pour some salt into a paper bag
and add the flowers. Shake vigorously as the salt will absorb
all the dust and dirt and leave your artificial flowers looking like
new ! Works like a charm !

STAIN KIT
Now is a good time to build up your arsenal on the war against
stains. Homeowners can prepare for stains in advance by assembling
a "stain kit" containing a few common materials found to work
best in removing stains. Then, when someone spills his cabernet on
the carpet, you won't have to rush around trying to find the appropriate
spot remover as the wine stain spreads. Common stain busters
suggested by the Ohio State University Extension:
Alcohol: Removes grease, grass and soft drinks
Ammonia: Removes blood, perspiration and urine
Borax: Removes fruit and juice stains
Hydrogen peroxide: Removes scorch marks and chocolate
Lemon juice: Removes ink, iodine and rust
Liquid shampoo: Removes grease, oil and tar
Petroleum jelly: Removes ink
White vinegar: Removes alcohol, deodorants, coffee and glue

HOW TO PRESERVE A HUSBAND
Do not choose one too young, and pick one who has been raised
in a moral atmosphere. Some insist on keeping them in a
pickle, while other keep them in hot water. Even poor ones can be
made good and well seasoned with smiles and kisses to taste. Keep
them wrapped in love, warmed with devotion and served with peaches and
cream. When properly cared for, they will last for years.
