Hello! I have only posted one other thing to the list and feel rather bad about it. -_-;; So here is one more (a part of my new years res is to write more stories! ^^) to add to my rather short list.
The song is from Jekyll and Hyde the musical. (Which has a lot of great songs that fit the RK story so very well!)
I don't own the characters or the song and this is not for profit, so please don't sue! ^^;;
Confrontation
** denotes actions
The rest of the words are sung
*Kenshin stares at the sword in his hand, tears drying on his cheeks.*
Kenshin: It's over now I know inside
No one will ever know
The sorry tale of Battousai
And those who died
*He closes his eyes as he pictures, for the hundreth time, the moment he realized he couldn't stop his swing, the slow fall of raven black hair, and sightless blue eyes*
No one must ever know
They'd only see the tragedy
* He lays his sword down on the floor*
They'd not see my intent
*Flashes of soundless images of him yelling impassionately at Hiko. His desire to save the innocent from a bloody war*
The shadow of his evil
Would forever kill the good
That I had meant
*Images of mothers telling Battousai stories to frighten their children into good behavior. The stares he got from the people on the street, afraid of his hair and scar, the coldness of his eyes. He stares at the sword in front of him*
Am I a good man?
*Looks into a full length mirror from across the room. He stands slowly, picking up the sword. He stares at the figure in the mirror, the cold eyes, the vivid scar against pale skin. He raises a hand to his high pony
tail.*
Am I a mad man?
*Sheathes the sword and slowly removes the tie. His hair falls around his shoulders. Turning from the mirror he gathers it into a low ponytail and ties it up again.*
It's such a fine line
Between a good man and a.....
Battousai: Do you really think
That I would ever let you go?
*Kenshin turns in horror to the mirror. The Battousai stands in front of him, his eyes a cold amber, his ponytail swaying in a specter breeze. The sword in his hand drips with blood and a Kyoto in flames frames his shadowy form*
Do you think I'd ever set you free?
*With a flick of the wrist, the blood splatters onto the paper wall beside him. In a smooth move he sheaths his sword and walks towards the mirror, mimicing Kenshin's stance.*
If you did, I'm sad to say,
It simply isn't so
You will never get away from me!
*Kenshin backs away from the mirror in horror. He shakes his head slowly,
then his resolve hardens*
Kenshin: All that you are is a face in the mirror
I close my eyes and you disappear!
*Battousai sneers*
Battousai: I'm what you face when you face in the mirror
Long as you live I will still be here!
Kenshin: All that you are is the end of a nightmare
All that you are is a dying scream
*Unsheaths his sword again, determinded now, more than ever, to leave Kyoto*
After tonight I shall end this demon dream
*Battousai gestures at the horrorable landscape around him*
Battousai This is not a dream, my friend
And it will never end
This one is the nightmare
That goes on
*Unsheathes his own sword in a lightning quick move and points it at Kenshin*
BATTOUSAI is here to stay
No matter what you may pretend
*Lowers it slowly, a strange light in his eyes*
And he'll flourish long after you're gone!
Kenshin: Soon you will die and my memory will hide you
You can not choose but to lose control!
Battousai: You can't control me
I live deep inside you!
Each day you'll feel me devour your soul!
*Fear of the truth behind Battousai's words, Kenshin forces himself to remember his life before Kyoto, before the mask of amber dropped over the violet compassion deep inside of him*
Kenshin: I don't need you to survive like you need me
I'll become whole as you dance with death!
*Triumphantly, Kenshin sheathes his sword, and turns to leave the room, and the Battousai, far behind him*
And I'll rejoice as you breathe your final breath!
*A strange, cold laugh echoes through Kenshin's head, and he turns to stare at the dark, blood stained form in the mirror*
Battousai: For I'll live inside you forever!
*Kenshin clutches his head and screams*
Kenshin: NO!
Battousai: With Satan himself by my side!
*Kenshin shakes his head violently, trying to cover his ears, not wanting to hear his fears come to light*
Kenshin: NO!
Battousai: With Satan himself by my side!
*Kenshin shakes his head violently, trying to cover his ears, not wanting to hear his fears come to light*
Kenshin: NO!!
Battousai: And I know that now and forever
They'll never be able to separate you from Battousai!
*Kenshin finally raises his head, his face almost a snarl*
Kenshin: Can't you see it's
Over now
It's time to die!
*Battousai almost smiles and shakes his head slowly*
Battousai: No not I
Only you!
*Desperately trying to regain control*
Kenshin: If I die
You die too!
*A smile finally twists the Battousai's lips into something more of a sneer than a smile*
Battousai: You'll die in me!
I'll BE you!
*Kenshin shakes his head*
Kenshin: Battousai, leave me be!
*Battousai laughs, a cold, hard sound*
Battousai: Cant you see?
You are me!
*Kenshin covers his eyes, doubt flooding through him.*
Kenshin: NO! Deep inside!
*Battousai's eyes gleam in triumph*
Battousai: I am pure
*Points his sword at Kenshin*
You're the lie!
*Dropping his hands from his eyes they curl in fists, and he steps close to the glass. His muscles tense, he looks ready to strike it*
Kenshin: No never!
*Sheathes his sword and mimics Kenshin's stance again, two halves of a whole*
Battousai: Yes forever!
Kenshin: Battousai, take all your evil deeds and rot in Hell!
*With a cry, Kenshin breaks the glass, then falls to his knees sobbing. From somewhere deep inside of him, a black shadow of his soul whispers*
Battousai: I'll see you there, Kenshin!
**************
Well there is it. Any C&C is welcome, and I hope that this makes sense! ^^;;;;; I think that a J&H/RK story would be very interesting, if rather long! ^^ I did change some of the lyrics to better fit with the characters, but by and large they are taken right from the musical. Okay, enough babbling! I hope you enjoyed it!
