Blind Demon Ritual (aka. Demon Tag Ritual)
On the 26th day of the 11th month, in preparation for the Strangling Ritual 10 years later, choose a maiden with holy power. She should be past the age of 7 years, 9 months, 25 days.
The Blinding Mask is used in the Blind Demon ritual. Two stakes pierce through the eyes of the blinding mask. It is used in the ritual as a blindfold. The legend goes, "While the demon is blindfolded, enter the rope altar and perform the ritual." This might mean that the Blinding Mask is a key to the rope altar.
The "demon" in question is the young maiden chosen to be blinded. She is brought to a secret room by four priests.
The blinding is performed by the Family Master, who wears the Mask of Reflection. He places the blinding mask on her face, then takes it to the rope altar to perform a ritual there.
There has been a bit of confusion with some fans as to the identity of the Blind Demon vs. the Rope Shrine Maiden. They are not the same woman, as the Blind Demon dies from her wounds and the Rope Shrine Maiden quite clearly has eyes in the animated sequences later in the game.
